Yes sir. Matt Kemp. Of course I had to look it up.
Which brings me to my favorite follow-up trivia question:
This former MLB teammate of Matt Kemp was, with this NFL quarterback, one of the more imposing starting pitching tandems in DFW metroplex high school baseball history.
This is trivia NOT in the form of a question. Just something I feel like sharing.
Ron Kellogg earned the nickname Special K. His junior year he had 5 games scoring 30 or more (all on Saturdays) - without there being a 3 point line.
He scored 30 points against Wichita State, 31 against Colorado, 39 against Nebraska, 34 against Memphis State, and 34 against Oklahoma.
Impressive.
Yet, Ronnie did something else that Bill Self felt was extremely impressive.
Bill Self was a graduate assistant on/for the 1985-86 KU team. He claims they did a shooting drill at practice in which the players would launch 30 to 35 jump shots from the elbow within a five-minute span. He said, "On the fourth day we ran it, Ronnie finally missed one. Do you hear me? He went three consecutive days in a rapid-fire shooting drill without missing!"

Rainbows I'm sorry you have nothing better to do than to go digging stuff up on a message board.

7 players averaged 19+ PPG in a single season under Bill Self and Roy Williams.
Can you name the 7 and what years they did it in?
I can't guess the seasons but I will guess Pierce, Mason, Lawson, Gooden, Simien, LaFrentz, and I think Calloway or someone else kind of obscure is the "trick" that most people wouldn't think of.

I'm 56 years old.
3 times in my lifetime KU lost in the National Championship game.
In those 3 games, 4 KU players had *DOUBLE doubles. 19 points 21 rebounds, 16 points 16 rebounds, 18 points 10 rebounds, and 18 points 17 rebounds.
Who were those 4 players?
* Edited from triple doubles to double doubles.

also off the top of my head, and without looking it up, who's got the best single-game stats in Self era KU history?
points: Elijah's 39 at the clones
boreds: Trob's 20+ game?
assists: prob either like Dajuan or Miles?
steals: gotta be Mario, right? Or maybe Marcus Garrett went nuts one game. Or somebody random/not known as a defensive menace
blocks: Cole's aforesaid triple double
turnovers: prob Tyshawn
3 pointers made: didn't Vick get that one? Or like, 3 pointers made without a miss or something.
points: 41 - Wiggins v WVU
boreds: 21 - TRob v North Dakota ( 31 pts, 21 rebounds ) in 12 - Aldrich had 20 twice
assists: 13 - Vonte v WVU in 18, Tyshawn v Ohio State in 12
steals: 8 - RussRob v Yale in 08
blocks: 12 - Withey, San Jose State, 2013. Withey also had 10 vs NC State in the S16 in 2012. Cole had 10 v Dayton in a 2nd round game.
turnovers: Not as easy to find - Tyshawn is a good guess as he had 11 turnovers vs Duke in Hawaii during the 2012 season
3 pointers made: Vick, 8-8 for Vermont in 2019, 2nd all time behind Terry Brown's 11
