No, what I've said is that you are very, very wrong (intentionally, ignorantly, who knows) when you try to paint a picture of sweeping federal mandates regarding Covid. It remains true that at no time has any such thing existed (or even been sought by the federal government).

It also remains true that hundreds of thousands of your fellow Americans would not be dead - and locally-mandated or elective school and business closures would not have had to happen on nearly the scale they did - if losers who think like you had not thrown temper tantrums over...checks notes...wearing a cloth mask sometimes.

You're seeing the problem but drawing the wrong conclusion. It's because we have so many at-risk people in this country that we needed to take extreme measures to keep us from losing half our population you dolt.

Were all of the measures taken wise, well thought out and sensible? No, not all of them. Were some just overreactions from lawyers who didn't want their cities or businesses to be sued? Probably, yes. Did the measures save millions of lives? Unquestionably yes.

Or maybe people could just take simple measures to be healthier?

So the rest of us don't have to take extreme measures

That's as realistic as "maybe people could just stop shooting other people" as a solution to our gun issues in the nation.

There are a zillion factors that go into our nation's obesity issues... nasty, fattening, processed food being cheap and readily available while fresh, healthy food being more expensive, the general propensity for many to be unable to resist self indulgent comfort food choices, genetics, advertising, the list goes on and on and on.

I live in reality where "people should just take better care of themselves" is a sick joke. Look around you. I feel unhealthy and overweight until I go to Costco or our neighborhood pool and then I realize how comparably fit and healthy I actually am.

3 different times I have been in close proximity to a co-worker who has appeared to POSSIBLY have Covid and told me they are fine - "it's allergies" - and it was NOT "allergies" - it was Covid.
If I contacted Covid from them, got very sick to the point of being hospitalized or even died, what if any repercussions and liability should they incur/endure and face?

I would argue that the onus is on you to protect yourself by wearing a mask, distancing yourself, etc. We saw what happened economically and educationally, as well as the impact on physical and mental health of the population, when draconian shut downs and stay-at-home orders were enacted. People have to have some measure of autonomy or they crumble underneath the weight of it all.

My worthless 2 cents....
I feel if someone is sick they should stay home. Covid, cold, flu, whatever. Especially if they don't need to be in the office and can work remotely.
That being said, I agree it's on ME to protect myself - and if someone isn't intentionally trying to get me sick there isn't really much I can do about THEM.

MICH - Yes and no. Most of my problems are caused by others. Of course how I choose to deal with those problems is 100% on me.
