Today In: "Nanny state", that thing republicans have been warning us about democrats, for decades.

So fortunate to have a gov who cares enough to take care of us:

"...they're going to put a rainbow in your mouth..."

Go Gavin!

Seriously folks, talk about "performative", DeSantis is a small, pathetic man:

My dream was to become a greeter at Disney World, before they went all woke.

But maybe they'll need people to pick strawberries? Because, nothing's more fun than being stooped over picking strawberries in the sun all day. Or, although I haven't walked an outside 3rd floor wall to lay the 2 x 10s out since the summer between between my 1st and 2nd year at KU med, if they need framers, hopefully it comes back to you like typing, or riding a bike.

I know Georgia did:

The Law Of Unintended Consequences: Georgia's Immigration Law Backfires

May 17, 2012 To forgo a repeat of last year, when labor shortages triggered an estimated $140 million in agricultural losses, as crops rotted in the fields, officials in Georgia are now dispatching prisoners to the state’s farms to help harvest fruit and vegetables.

The labor shortages, which also have affected the hotel and restaurant industries, are a consequence of Georgia’s immigration enforcement law, HB 87, which was passed last year. As State Rep. Matt Ramsey, one of the bill’s authors, said at the time, “Our goal is … to eliminate incentives for illegal aliens to cross into our state.”

Now he and others are learning: Be careful what you wish for, because you may get more than you bargained for.

Georgia’s law, similar to those in Alabama, Arizona and a few other states, gives police the authority to demand immigration documentation from suspects when they detain them for other possible violations. The law also makes it more difficult for businesses to hire workers and creates harsher punishments for those who employ or harbor illegal immigrants.

The decades-long republican war on intellectualism is alive, and well!

Floree-duh, where reality goes to die:

...Hawkins served from 2008 to 2020 on the Osceola County Commission. But Gov. Ron DeSantis suspended him in July 2020 after Hawkins was charged with impersonating a law enforcement officer. Hawkins went on to get elected to the House in November 2020...

Mich nailed it! Boebert's GED and Pete's education history are identical:

Buttigieg was valedictorian of the class of 2000 at St. Joseph High School in South Bend.[18][19] That year, he won first prize in the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum's Profiles in Courage essay contest. He traveled to Boston to accept the award and met Caroline Kennedy and other members of President Kennedy's family...

After graduating from St. Joseph High School, Buttigieg attended Harvard University, where he majored in history and literature.[25] He became president of the Student Advisory Committee of the Harvard Institute of Politics and worked on the institute's annual study of youth attitudes on politics.[26][27] He wrote his undergraduate thesis, titled The Quiet American's Errand into the Wilderness, on the influence of Puritanism on U.S. foreign policy as reflected in Graham Greene's novel The Quiet American.[28][29] He graduated magna cum laude from Harvard in 2004, and was elected a member of Phi Beta Kappa.[30][31]

Buttigieg was awarded a Rhodes Scholarship to study at the University of Oxford.[30][32] In 2007, he received a Bachelor of Arts degree with first-class honours in philosophy, politics, and economics after studying at Pembroke College, Oxford.[33][34][35][36] At Oxford, he was an editor of the Oxford International Review
,[37] and was a co-founder[37] and member of the Democratic Renaissance Project, an informal debate and discussion group of approximately a dozen Oxford students.[38][39]

I’d say his new slogan isn’t so much MAKE AMERICA HUNGARY as it is MAKE FLORIDA MISSISSIPPI, but that might be unfair to Mississippi.

I feel bad enough living here already, without it becoming "Mississippi".
