Re: Uncle Joe
Gaslighting is a Trumpian specialty. Rinse repeat. FAKE NEWS. FAUX RUSSIA. The truth is always already well-known and the opposite of his contentions.
Re: Uncle Joe
Because what matters is the anger, and the feeling that it is shared.
There's absolutely blame on both sides for why that anger exists (and exists so deeply) in the first place. But that's where we're at: people want to feel heard, and Trump gives them that. Without regard for whether he actually feels the same way, and without regard for whether "his" (his enablers') policies are actually directed at solving the people's problems.

Re: Uncle Joe
Inflation in energy and food prices is important. In World War II, both were rationed. In the current European war, we are seeing huge impacts on prices. But so far we are not sacrificing too much. As Ukraine wins, the situation will reverse.

Energy prices rose by 0.6% this month, but are 16.7% lower than a year ago.
Inflation for food served at home continued to moderate as prices remained unchanged from May. Annual inflation fell from 5.8% to 4.7%.
Out-of-home food prices, which tend to be more impacted by labor costs, rose 0.4% month on month and 7.7% from a year ago.
The CPI report showed that used car prices fell 0.5% on a monthly basis and 5.2% from a year ago. Prices for new vehicles were flat, but they are still 4.1% higher than a year ago...
From Seeking Alpha:
Airline fares in the U.S. fell 18.9% in June compared to a year ago on an unadjusted basis. Overall, core inflation cooled to a 4.8% year-over-year pace during the month.
On a month-to-month comparison, air fares fell 8.1% in June after declining 3.0% in May, retreating 2.6% in April, and dropping 6.5% in March, according to data compiled by the Bureau of Transportation Statistics.
Analysts said the downward trend in fares is due largely to lower fuel prices and a healthier overall cost basis for carriers. Indications have been that booking demand remains strong, particularly with the corporate and international channels still recovering from the pandemic slowdown...

A quick search of the origins of the phrase “America First” will explain why Trump and Trumpistas use it to describe themselves and their ideology.
It’s not good.

Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?
