For about 5-6 years beginning in 2005, a personal friend of my wife's was our financial advisor/broker. I knew she was a republican when we hired her, but aren't republicans supposed to be the ones who know business, and know money because, that's all that seems to matter to them? And, I was trying to be broadminded... Around 2011 my wife was talking to her about something and MLK came up, and the advisor said, "Oh, that guy who caused all that trouble?". She was from rKansas so, what did I expect. So for that a several other reasons I'll spare you, I finally put my foot down and told my wife we had to move on from her friend.

My current advisor regularly reminds me that when we first met in 2012 before knowing anything about each other I asked him at the beginning of the conversation: "Do you believe Barack Obama was born in America?"

When he answered "yes", we had a deal.

A few months ago I asked someone I was considering hiring for another potential long-term professional relationship: "Who do you think won the 2020 presidential election?"

She replied "Biden", and we had a deal.
