Are you taking him to Wicked?
Not in Baltimore silly. I may take my daughter to Six in NYC though!

Showing $166 minimum for decent times. Leaving first or last thing won’t work for me on this trip.

Speaking of Baltimore, my friend and his family went up to the inner harbor a couple months ago, and were distraught at how badly it had gone downhill.

That’s too bad. Was a neat place to grab a beer last time I was there.

I also think Paris is overrated but this dude thinks fast food is good and thought he should be approached at a dance club looking like that.

I haven’t been, but Paris is pretty far down the list for me (enough so that I might well never make it there unless for work).

The history is there - dude had no interest in it.

Did he go to the Tuileries garden?
Probs not.

Same here.

Did he happen to pop in here?

I was there for five days so there's no way I could really get a gather on the place but I unfortunately must have gotten a bit unlucky ( though I suspect that's not the case ) with Parisian waiters/servers because there was one single somewhat nice one out of maybe 15-20 instances -- and there were 2 complete assholes.

This was even worse in smaller towns/cities in France ( In Beaune we just left a restaurant ).

If a person is attempting your language, and not a native speaker, the human thing to do is appreciate they are trying, and not ridicule them.

TLDR: Paris - decor and history a 9, food a 7.5 and people a 2.

Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?

It was at best indifference and at worst disdain. Even if you can't completely understand someone you can tell by facial expression and body language. Add that to clear preference to other tables who were French speakers.

In Beaune, we had a person with us who could speak French enough to get by, but despite that the waiter literally ignored us for 45 minutes, and found a table where she could overhear the waiter was talking with the French customers and making fun of our accents, clothes and the fact we were Americans.

We didn't go anywhere fancy on purpose because we were backpacking Europe and only had one set of 'dress' clothes but it was a simple wrinkle resistant button down and slacks. Just a bunch of assholes.

I’ve never been to France, but French Canadians are the rudest group of humans I’ve ever encountered, from an all-around perspective.

Acadians, on the other hand, salt of the earth.

Took the Acela from NYC to Baltimore last night. Really great experience all around. That it cost more than flying doesn't give me a lot of near-term hope for our energy and economic policy, though.
