OK so the confidence from below has completely backtracked.
Got it.

"sooo…who emerges as the backup PG/other lead?

i’m thinking Elmarko

Your Dumb ass would"

I think the key to Morris is if he gets his head on straight and has a good attitude. Just from the interviews I've seen, Jackson gets it. As we know, lack of playing time can greatly affect performance, so I take Morris' numbers with a grain of salt. The good news is we have a coaching staff with a track record of developing guards. I am optimistic about both players.

With mccullar coming back and kj here, Timberlake will mainly play the 2. We know this is dajuans team and he's playing 30+ and the 1

So now you have a three player battle for big minutes at the 2. Between Timberlake, arterio, and elmarko.

Yeah I think arterio is more likely to play the back up minutes at point than a raw freshman athlete like elmarko

Don't be fooled by Morris modest numbers, he looked good at the end of the season. And he is basically the same prospect Dotson was. Lightning quick. Dotson had more opportunity as a freshman because Morris was stuck behind 2 really good guards

There could also be small lineups when McCullar sits with Timberlake on the court and one of the freshmen.
There could also be moments where McCullar serves as point.
And Dajuan will sit some ( though not much ).

Self didn't bring Morris here with a pending legal situation if he didn't have high hopes for him. The guy is crazy talented himself

I agree Morris has a lot of untapped talent.
Guy was a major recruit out of college who Self went after initially and didn't get.
I don't know if he showed enough his freshman year to be a lock over Elmarko. It could be a close battle for those backup minutes.

Jackson and Morris are virtually identical prospects. Both listed about 6'3 have similar athletic tools. 5 star McDonald's guys, ranked about late teens on all recruiting sites.

The one difference is one has a year experience in the big 12 and one is fresh out of high school

Itll be a battle for sure. They will be battling with Timberlake too for minutes at the 2 spot. One paper this feels like the deepest backcourt we've had in awhile, with experience and athletic upside

Sure.
But that one year of experience didn't impress.
And KU is a better basketball program than Texas.

Who's assuming? It's called predicting, or guessing. We don't act like we're sure of things when we aren't. This is the epitome of projection.

Yes.

Yes. And elmarkos first year might not be that impressive either. We don't know yet. He has tough competition for playing time

Texas was better than KU last year tho. They beat KU pretty handily twice. They won the post season tournament and went farther in the ncaaas

Every team that Texas faced in the NCAA's was worse than that Arkansas team ( Kenpom and TRank ).
We coulda beat Penn State to get to the S16 even without Coach Self.
The second win Texas got against us was right after we found out Bill Self had a heart issue and without Kevin McCullar and in that shithole tournament in Missouri but go on with yourself.

this is like the Yes narrative, 2.0

Unfortunately, yes, and now i'll find myself rooting for Elmarko over Morris just so randy doesn't spam the boreds with itoldyouso's ( and they really won't be itoldyouso's ) all season long.

Unless, you are Bill Self in a pseudo username. What a joke. Negativity is what you bring...just like with Braun 2.0...I would think you would be better suited on the football board and put out your diatribe of how you are smarter than the coaching staffs and they don't/aren't given a chance to change your mind. Karen...Nope...We are back to Negative Nancy. Stuff happens...like Och to redshirt...it didn't happen...Self recognized....made it work...I trust in Bill. Period.
Calm down Karen. Negativity is thinking arterio Morris isn't gonna be ready to make a big impact. The dude is a stud. McDonald's all American 5 Star recruit, #1 point guard in his class. Lightning quick. And already has a year experience playing in the big 12.

He's going to be hard to beat out. Assuming a freshman is ready to do it is wild
Not the best wording to use to describe a dood with his baggage

Only 19 days, now.

So with Marcus Adams gone, now we have

Little guards:
Juan
Jackson
Morris

Big guards:
McCullar
Timberlake
McDowell

Bigs:
KJ
Dickinson
Braun
Clemence (RS)

Am I missing someone?

And Morris we're not completely sure about because of legal issues I believe... We're an injury away from having to play some walk-ons. That said, some of our walk-ons could be scholarship players at many D1 schools.

I'd put the odds of Clemence's redshirt getting pulled at 60%.
