Re: Satellite Question

Went to a wedding last night about 60 miles South of us.

Great wedding. Real fancy. On the ocean. Skies opened up to a full six hour thunderstorm right after ceremony.

BUD lets lose bc I’m driving home which woulda been fine but we get to get car in the parking lot after event and tire pressure light is on. Tire fully flat. I don’t see any punctures but the valve cap is lose. Dunno if someone thought it’s be funny but now it’s pouring rain, BUD is sloshed and no tow place is open.

Thankfully a friend was leaving at the same time and was staying at a nearby hotel and had an extra queen bed so we crashed there.

Put on the spare this morning and drove scenic slow route 1 all the way home.

All this said, it was the first time I’ve driven on a spare. I’ve put on spares before but for others. And now we find out if the tire is salvageable.

I urge you to buy a lottery ticket. You're due for some good fortune.

On the other hand, maybe an inflated spare was the good fortune for which you were due.

Actually, despite the shitty end and sleeping in wedding clothes, the previous five hours before the flat tire incident rocked, saw friends I hadn't seen in a while, and, the BUD got a ride home at 7 AM the next day from another friend who stayed the night in the area b/c she needed to relieve gBUD from sitting duty, so I got to change the flat on my own time, on an absolutely glorious 70 degree no humidity gentle breeze filled sunny day.

That morning two hour drive up Rt1 through the small coastal towns of Maine ( because I sure wasn't taking 95 ), windows down, no radio, stopping for a coffee and breakfast sandwich, was my reward.

When I first decided I was moving out of NYC I took 10 days off and rented a car to drive up through Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine to see which of those three states felt right.

That's my most memorable solo drive and am glad I got to do it.

pdub wrote: Fri Jul 21, 2023 10:34 am As CR stated, however, I'm a surrender monkey.

I've since found out that the wedding/reception is NOT at the hotel and starts at 3 and goes til 10.
There'll be shuttle busses taking you from the hotel there.
This eliminates my appearances for that day ( Saturday ) so that's a sigh of relief ( despite the fact that I won't be getting free dinner/drinks at reception ).

Friday's rehearsal is from 6-8, no kids, but i'm being told, as a surrender monkey, that it's such a fancy event that I will need to bring a suit, so that I can, what, go down for 20 minutes ( of which if the bride/groom speak to me I will certainly mention my kid upstairs in the hotel room a few times ) for pleasantries and take a plate to go?

And TDub you make an extremely good point of which I forgot -- the pictures.
We'd better not have to be in them if we can't go to any events at the wedding.
CR would be proud to find out that I was less of a surrender monkey, but still one, and I put my 'foot down' and said I would not be bringing a suit nor would I even go to said rehearsal.

Basically they won't be seeing me at any of the events where our kids can't attend.
If you need me, i'll be at the outdoor pool.

I leave tomorrow.
May I survive.

I was wrong. So wrong.

You are not a surrender-monkey. You're just a dude dealt a crappy hand.

Live blog.
It was raining in Malibu.
That doesn’t happen often.

They moved the event indoors last minute.
The sun just came out.
It’s absolutely gorgeous out.

Live blog.
The mother of the bride doesn’t want ties at the wedding.
Her ex ( father of the bride ) is insisting on wearing a tie.

Who will win?
