His lawyers do 99% of the stuff that takes up time. He might miss a few days of campaigning here and there for court appearances but the vast majority of primaries are long since done by the time that May 2024 court date hits.

As for smearing his name? Charging him with crimes seems to bolster his status as the GOP frontrunner so I don't see that as the point, either. None of your reasons hold water.

I seriously doubt that any prison time will be served. You’re talking about someone with Secret Service protection, which would mean putting agents behind bars with him. Not gonna happen, even if the kangaroo courts manage a conviction.
What is it specifically that makes these bogus charges? Have you reviewed the indictments and feel that they are weak cases? From what I have seen, it appears that they have very good cases against him for violating the law. It feels like you're just in the "Trump is a divisive politician so this must be political" camp of "logic". Or else you're just in the "own a lib by spouting whatever anti-Democrat propaganda I hear" mode.

Yes, I agree with you that there are some practical issues surrounding jailing a former President. But if he is found guilty of multiple counts then I do not see how they cannot do it.

Someone recently got sentenced to 3 years in prison for a fraction of the willful retention of classified documents that Trump is being charged with. And Trump did much more to knowingly obstruct the DoJ in his case. Like with the NCAA, it seems that obstructing an investigation seems to carry more penalty than the infraction itself.
https://www.justice.gov/usao-mdfl/pr/fo ... -willfully
The POTUS has the authority to verbally declassify documents. It’s political gamesmanship and a direct thwarting of the will of the people, just like the 2020 election.
Feel free to provide your source on that. Courts have routinely held up the assertion that any declassification must follow some sort of procedure that allows others to know the classification status of information and any documents that information is located on.

No need to go to Cosby.

An average of opinion polls from 31 July suggests he has a commanding lead of 37 points over his nearest rival, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.

Back in mid-February, Mr Trump's lead over Mr DeSantis in the average of polls was just two points (41% to 39%).

I dunno where I saw it or whether it was legit, but I recall some recent poll saying in the general election 2024 thread, Trump and Biden are neck-and-neck.

Yea.

If pubs loose they’ll cry foul and claim the election was stolen, rather than just stop and consider how bonkers their candidate and platform is

If dems loose they’ll cry foul and blame third party voters who prefer to vote for a platform they actually halfway have faith in instead of capitulate, rather than just stop and consider how flawed and unappealing their own campaign night have been

(Speaking of 2016, looking at you, Hillary in Wisconsin….oh wait, there’s no Hillary in Wisconsin to look at!)

The only reason trumps numbers continue to climb with indictments, is it just brings more attention to how broken and corrupt the system is. Trumps "crimes" are not legitimate and real crimes and we all know it. It's just political drama

His numbers continue to go up because the American people are tired of this broken system, and trump is the political outsider with enough power and courage to take on the deep state

Yeah, OK. I'd ask you for your sources on that but I know you don't have any.

Lie after lie after lie.

It's not the reason; it's the reason that some people tell themselves to justify someone that "we all know" has clearly broken a number of laws.

Trump isn't taking on the Deep State; he's just satisfying his own lust for power and money in any manner he can. He didn't push through any legislation that took on any Deep State. He isn't taking on any Deep State when he whines about being held accountable for his crimes. He's just lying like he always does in an effort to get away with his crimes.

Just blindly parroting social media propaganda talking points while telling everyone else they are blind parrots of social media propaganda. Same old, same old.

I can set my watch to Randy and Mich that when I see a new angle on the spin being put on this nonsense by Trump supporters via my social media feeds that they will be here spouting those exact same talking points within 24 hours in their arguments. They hit at a 100% rate.
