Springsteen is playing at Wrigley tonight. I fully expect him to perform the song.

That's a nice version of The Weight, but it just makes me miss Levon too...

There’s a doc out there - We Were Brothers? - in which Robbie said he played that song for the first time for Bob Dylan and Bob was like OMG WHO WROTE THIS SONG

See my last comment, I wasn't right - but I had a strong feeling he would at least acknowledge him and pay some sort of tribute.....

Heard/read some discussion a while back on what guest was hypothetically missing from The Last Waltz.

Overwhelming consensus was Jerry.

Go figure he and Robbie both kicked on the same date.

This whole Jelly Roll skyrocket to stardom thing is crazy.

I randomly came across him several years ago and liked some.his stuff and listened (save me, smoking section, a few from an early album which is like a freestyling over willie nelsonish tunes, he also does a good rendition of Cant You see by Marshall Tucker Band (a very underrated song but this is another tangent))

But I never expected him to be a big star and certainly not in the "country" side of things. The way things get popular in this country these days is wild.

It is a great song, although it got played a whole lot at the time. I saw MT Band on several occasions, and they were very good.

Have to admit, I preferred the Allman Brothers Band and Lynyrd Skynyrd personally, probably because they were more bluesy, and more electric-guitar forward.

I was cutting a rug
Down at place called The Jug
With a girl named Linda Lou
When in walked a man
With a gun in his hand
And he was looking for you know who
He said, "Hey there, fellow
With the hair colored yellow
Whatcha tryin' to prove?
'Cause that's my woman there
And I'm a man who cares
And this might be all for you"
I said, "excuse me?"

I was scared and fearing for my life
I was shaking like a leaf on a tree
'Cause he was lean, mean
Big and bad, Lord
Pointin' that gun at me
"Oh, wait a minute, mister
I didn't even kiss her
Don't want no trouble with you
And I know you don't owe me
But I wish you'd let me
Ask one favor from you

Not a huge fan either, but sometimes…their music just hits.

Some of the best “crank it to 11” music out there

I went to HS with a kid that grew up with the drummer. He made sure everyone knew who they were before they hit it big. He tried to get them to come play at our dances and supposedly almost succeeded but it never happened. This would've been probably 98ish? Anyway, kinda crazy looking back on that now
