Southern border
How is there not a border thread yet? Anyways. Send a few illegals to leftist city and they come back to reality real quick. Thank goodness
Re: Southern border
Guess which party is standing in the way of solutions? Why yes, republicans and libertarian republicans. A solution destroys Fox News rw talking points. Randy posts this as Trump is indicted for his insurrection.

Defense. Rebounds.
Re: Southern border
They need to continue to increase funding to add more staff to process legal requests and continue to enforce punishments for illegal crossings so that the legal route is a realistic option. They obviously cannot let everyone in and are obviously not so continued efforts to fine tune the process is needed. Good to see some progress, lots more needed still.jhawks99 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 02, 2023 7:52 amThanks Uncle Joe.Feral wrote: ↑Tue Aug 01, 2023 11:47 pm 7/18/23 Illegal border crossings dip to lowest level in over 2 years

Yo soy Joaquín,
perdido en un mundo de confusión:
I am Joaquín, lost in a world of confusion,
caught up in the whirl of a gringo society,
confused by the rules, scorned by attitudes,
suppressed by manipulation, and destroyed by modern society.
My fathers have lost the economic battle
and won the struggle of cultural survival.
And now! I must choose between the paradox of
victory of the spirit, despite physical hunger,
or to exist in the grasp of American social neurosis,
sterilization of the soul and a full stomach.
Yes, I have come a long way to nowhere,
unwillingly dragged by that monstrous, technical,
industrial giant called Progress and Anglo success....
I look at myself.
I watch my brothers.
I shed tears of sorrow. I sow seeds of hate.
I withdraw to the safety within the circle of life --
MY OWN PEOPLE
I am Cuauhtémoc, proud and noble,
leader of men, king of an empire civilized
beyond the dreams of the gachupín Cortés,
who also is the blood, the image of myself.
I am the Maya prince.
I am Nezahualcóyotl, great leader of the Chichimecas.
I am the sword and flame of Cortes the despot
And I am the eagle and serpent of the Aztec civilization.
I owned the land as far as the eye
could see under the Crown of Spain,
and I toiled on my Earth and gave my Indian sweat and blood
for the Spanish master who ruled with tyranny over man and
beast and all that he could trample
But...THE GROUND WAS MINE.
I was both tyrant and slave.
I have endured in the rugged mountains
Of our country
I have survived the toils and slavery of the fields.
I have existed
In the barrios of the city
In the suburbs of bigotry
In the mines of social snobbery
In the prisons of dejection
In the muck of exploitation
And
In the fierce heat of racial hatred.
And now the trumpet sounds,
The music of the people stirs the
Revolution.
Like a sleeping giant it slowly
Rears its head
To the sound of
Tramping feet
Clamoring voices
Mariachi strains
Fiery tequila explosions
The smell of chile verde and
Soft brown eyes of expectation for a
Better life.
And in all the fertile farmlands,
the barren plains,
the mountain villages,
smoke-smeared cities,
we start to MOVE.
La raza!
Méjicano!
Español!
Latino!
Chicano!
Or whatever I call myself,
I look the same
I feel the same
I cry
And
Sing the same.
I am the masses of my people and
I refuse to be absorbed.
I am Joaquín.
The odds are great
But my spirit is strong,
My faith unbreakable,
My blood is pure.
I am Aztec prince and Christian Christ.
I SHALL ENDURE!
I WILL ENDURE!

Re: Southern border
1st question...... Does sharing this make me a "racist"?
Early last night. I guesstimate over 500 "Latinos" congregating at Ohio Street Beach. Majority "underage". Playing loud music, many drinking, smoking weed. I would bet my left testicle vs. 50 cents that some/many of them are gang members - who were happily flexing their bravado. They were basically taking over the beach. Cops came and made them empty their beer/alcohol cans/bottles. Did NOT do anything else. Including but not limited to checking a single one for a weapon. I suppose they may need "probable cause"? Didn't used to. I would bet my left testicle vs. 50 cents that more than 5% (probably closer to 20%-25%) of them had knives and guns. Especially considering I saw two guys with guns sticking out of the waistbands of their shorts. They needed/wanted to bring their guns to the beach because.....
A public beach, in the "heart" of the city, on a Sunday around 5:30pm, I fully admit I was on edge and on personal high alert. Yes, I also fully admit their "race" probably had something to do with my uneasiness. Maybe I should be ashamed of that, maybe I shouldn't but I am being honest - probably to a fault.
2nd question...... If we had a Pub Mayor and Pub President for the past 25 years, would the scene last night at 5:30pm at Ohio Street Beach have been any different - and if so, how/why?

I walked by Lori Lightfoot's house three times this weekend. There are traffic cones blocking off the parking in front of the place. There was a hispanic police office sitting in a car in front of her house every time. She is not the mayor now.
Coincidence?
I think NOT!
The Cuban flood at Cafecito on Chestnut was great.
The graffiti and murals in Logan Square are not a good as the murals and graffiti in Pilsen.

My 2nd apartment was in 215 E. Chestnut. The building where Cafecito is located.
I agree about Pilsen vs. Logan Square. Many years ago I lived on West Armitage. I would venture out in to the neighborhoods nearby. Some impressive murals. Your comment gives me the incentive to look for pics of them.
Sorry I missed you in Chicago! Asshole me would/should have invited you (and your daughter and whoever else you were with) up on my rooftop for the A&W show.

If there were 500+ white teens and I personally witnessed multiple of them with guns stuck in their shorts then I would be uneasy as well.RainbowsandUnicorns wrote: ↑Mon Aug 21, 2023 6:05 am 1st question...... Does sharing this make me a "racist"?

And who knows "what if". Sounds like a gathering that has been happening in large US cities since before we were a nation.

2. They would all have been white, openly carrying AR-15s.

It was unusual to see that many teenage (and early 20s?) Latinos congregating at that beach on a Sunday at 5:30pm. We often end up having problems in Chicago when large groups of kids (all races/nationalities) congregate and take on a "mob" mentality. Racist or not, again - I admit my feeling uneasy being there.

Re: Southern border
I don't think there is a city in America where adults don't get a little uneasy around a congregation of 500 teens and are right to expect some form of poor decision making to happen. My Mom's phrase "you're only as smart as your dumbest friend" applies to any group of teens as the group will inevitably take on whatever activity the dumbest, most brash showoff in the group decides to do. My guess is it just happens more frequently in larger cities like Chicago.RainbowsandUnicorns wrote: ↑Mon Aug 21, 2023 9:18 amMe too but I felt uneasy before I noticed the two with the visible guns. With the labor market so tight (I.e. more jobs than workers) why not put the immigrants to work in those jobs or is it too complicated.
