This is a great example of the grave harms the jokiest of joke candidacies can bring.

Affordable housing is a massive problem, especially in and around cities. Among many other undesirable things, challenges to lower-middle-class home ownership blocks those families from building wealth and improving their position. It also results in families being itinerant and unstable, of course, things that are associated with low achievement and crime.

And it’s an issue that simply isn’t served by a lunatic conspiracist attaching his joke candidacy to it.

Because now people who are NOT familiar with the issue think it’s a crackpot thing.

Because of this crackpot.

Lulz. In your mind it is probably also just a coincidence that Blackrock owns the majority of the electricity providers in the United States and those power grids now seem to randomly go out every time a stiff wind goes through. Oh, and it just happens to take three or more days to get power restored every time. People in my area are going through the third extended power outage in less than a year, with average restoration time at more than four days for most. Coincidence, or conditioning?

Is the insinuation here that for-profit companies are trying to help the environment instead of making money?

Yes. So foolish to think that an asset management company managing trillions of dollars of assets is harmful to our economy.

Foolish to think that when members of the WEF make comments about average citizens owning nothing, they mean it

Blackrock controls so damn much it's i insane. Look at all their connections. The companies they own majority stock in. The media outlets they control.

Hell they use that and even control the minds of simpletons like jfish and Shirley

JFC, Blackrock does not "own the majority of the electricity providers in the United States". They might own shares of them but they are not the "owners" of them.

I just misunderstood you. Thought you meant they were doing this to push an electricity-limiting policy as an environmental thing

Isn’t that what you “keep the government out of business” want? You want the government to interfere in private business?

This is a feature, not a bug, of privatized utilities.

The problem is when you take competition out of the equation. In Michigan, you have one option, depending on where you live. Currently, Consumers Energy is restoring power after the third major outage of the year, one of which lasted nine days, with the current one in day three. They have done a terrible job of maintaining the grid, yet they paid their CEO a $6 million bonus this year. DTE, the company that covers Detroit metro and Ann Arbor, is not much better.

There is a movement in Ann Arbor to start up a local cooperative in charge of their electricity. I like the idea of competition but also localized ownership. It is much harder to look your neighbors in the eye when they have a refrigerator full of spoiled food and you are driving a Bentley to a pancake feed to show your "appreciation" for their patronage than it is to do the same for nameless people you'll never see again.

As I said, “regulated” privatized utilities situation is a feature. It’s working exactly as designed. Privatize the profits and socialize the risk. Based on your favored solution, you might be mistaken for a liberal!!

I guess everyone becomes a liberal when f-ed over by a company

I would argue that it is the lack of membership/proximity with the community being served rather than profit models.

Doing a little research, it's probably Vanguard you should start keeping an eye on, not BlackRock.

Largest utilities by revenue in the US:
1) Pacific Gas & Electric
Vanguard owns 239 million shares (1st)
BlackRock owns 90 million (5th)

2) Southern California Edison
Vanguard owns 46 million shares (2nd)
BlackRock owns 88 million (1st)

3) Florida Power & Light
Vanguard owns 190 million shares (1st)
BlackRock owns 10.8 million (11th)

4) Consolidated Edison
Vanguard owns 41 million shares (1st)
BlackRock owns 1.6 million (6th)

5) Georgia Power - didn't find an up to date listing of largest shareholders

6) Dominion Energy
Vanguard Group Inc. owns 75.9 million shares (1st)
BlackRock owns 59.9 million (2nd)

The lists go on and on.... so is there any particular reason why you moan about BlackRock and not Vanguard? Genuinely curious why it seems to be only BlackRock that has been mentioned by you many times here. Are they a more left leaning group of wealth managers than Vanguard? Vanguard's donation history is more conservative than BlackRock's but not by a significant percentage. Just curious what has them stuck in your social media loop.
