Eh, no. It isn't that at all. We're already well ahead of Europe in the grand scheme of things and there are no nations even remotely comparable to the US in size of land mass and scale of economy. I'd just like to see this country continue to try to be a more improved version of itself.

The US has every conceivable advantage. We should be looking to take the good parts of what other countries do, and do them better.

Lots of improvements have been made but many more remain. If we could get the lunatics to stop voting idiots and grifters into important Congressional positions, we could get more done.

I tend to lean more conservative than liberal, fiscally. And I’m not, as a general matter, in favor of paying for things that don’t benefit me.

But I think a whole lot of Americans - especially right-leaning Americans - simply do not have a very good sense for what Europeans GET for higher taxes.

I’m not at all advocating to make the US European. But if we’re having the conversation, it should be had with the facts in full view.

I don’t know how tying healthcare to an employer is Freedom. Whatever that is, I guess opposite of socialism, is holding back upward mobility of the US population more than anything. If you wanted to strike out on your own, where you could get healthcare is probably the biggest barrier. I guess the idiots who are fighting a public healthcare option are not going to strike out on their own?? But it’s the biggest deterrent to entrepreneurship.
