Lack of better options. That would be a simple, succinct explanation.
There are better options available to the GOP in 2024 if they just had the guts to renounce Trump. Since GOP primary voters are too scared to vote for them just like Dems were too scared to vote for a better option than Biden in the 2020 primaries, we're saddled with Trump.

Excellent point, the RNC has put trump on notice. He needs to support the party candidates around the country and look at the party's bigger interests not just focus on his personal interests. They have demanded that he be a team player, and he has really started to step up in that regard.

Out of curiosity, who do you see as a better option?
From the list of people currently running? Haley, Scott, Hutchinson and Hurd. But I would discount Haley for her support of Trump.

I would vote for either of the first two. The latter, not so much.

This is one of the funnier self-owns the pubs are doing - absent something crazy (Covid x Ebola???), lockdowns simply aren't going to happen. So this is just going to burn up rube oxygen now (when it doesn't really matter), and there's not going to be any sort of payoff.

This is, as you note, just transparent button-mashing.

DONATE $17.76 TO KEEP ME OUT OF JAIL OR ELSE SLEEPY JOE AND THOSE TRICKY DEMOCRATS ARE GOING TO LOCK YOU UP.

Are any of these things actually happening? I have seen maybe one or two opinion articles stating that we might want to consider using masks again but I have seen many more articles about how people's immunities from previous covid infections and vaccinations is now high enough that we can live with covid amongst us with minimal interference. I have seen ZERO discussions about lockdowns etc... so that just plays like more slippery slope Lib Boogeyman rambling.

What another crock of shit from the republican puppet ma$ter. Beyond hard to believe people are stupid enough to fall for this bull time after time.

When I'm not here making an effort to reach no fewer than 250 posts/day lest I not meet Psych's quota, I read a lot of medically related stuff. And while the usual public health, infectious disease, epidemiologists et al are performing their due diligence collecting and monitoring the waxing and waning infection, transmission, and mutation levels of Covid-19, nowhere is there anywhere near the level of discussion about "masks" and "lockdowns" etc., "mandates", than in rightwing "conservative" republican, flood the zone with shit, media.

It's sad they don't have anything to think about other than something that absolutely no one in a position to do so is considering, much less eager to have to consider.

Why would democrats want to commit political suicide < 15 months before the next election?

Answer: They wouldn't, and they won't.

But don't let that stop you from swallowing the next pile of excrement your propagandists try to feed you, rubes.

(PS Which is not to say you shouldn't hide your guns before Obama takes them all away, again.)

The next hysteria is going to be that the Dems DIDN'T do lockdowns this time, which (in comparison to MANDATING lockdowns and vaccines while Biden was President in 2020, in advance of the election) is clearly ELECTION INTERFERENCE.

Randy, want to get in on the bet I have with psych? If you truly believe we're going to have widespread lockdowns in, say, the next nine months, you'll put money on that?

I don't think we will. I've just read they are trying. I don't think the American people will tolerate that stupid shit on a large scale again

This is a great example of the Human Centipede of Rubedom.

You have “read they are trying” from people who are ALSO baselessly speculating. And those people are doing so BECAUSE you get a half-chub over it.

It’s lie-laundering. Randy is not the original liar. He’s just one of the army of suckers that launder and legitimize the lies.

"But I heard it from a bunch of people so it must be true" was the beginning of this cycle. As the BS propaganda began to expand and every rube on the planet hit Share/Repost on Facebook/Twitter, all it took for people like Randy to believe it was to see that someone else like him believed it.

And of course this is straight down the fairway of what the Russian troll farms DO. This was a core part of Russia’s interference in the 2016 election - and the success of this play likely surprised even them.
