At age 83, after 36 years in congress, Nancy Pelosi says she’ll run for re-election

What’s even more impressive is that she was able to say so without suddenly going quiet and staring off into space.
how many G&Ts did she have before she made her statement?

good news, taxpayers might save some money if her and Feinstein travel together and share colostomy bags.
Name another democrat, of any age, you think would have been a more effective speaker of the house than Pelosi before she stepped down 2 years ago, despite her age.

how'd she make her millions again?

why are all politicians rich despite relatively pedestrian salaries?
When Montana was vying for statehood they called congress the millionaires club, it was a race to buy votes and change laws to favor themselves and most senators were only in it to further their own interests and business ventures. In the 1880s. Not much has changed other than the amount of 0s behind the moniker.

In fact, if you read about those times between Daly and Williams it is damn near identical to the situations being played out over the last decade +.

she's an awful human being. It's shameful that she has held office for as long as she has. And yes...before you ask...I feel the same about Trump, McConnell and 87% of Republicans and probably 78% of democrats.

Its possible I just dont like people. Its also true that the people I like have absolutely 0 political aspirations. I like good, simple people who care about people and like to learn and do things outside of simply vying for money and power. So, naturally, that rules out 99% of politicians.

But to answer your question, I think itd be easier to answer who wouldve been less effective.

Theatrically tearing up a speech though, that really meant something special there. Uniting, rising above, righteousness. What was it, nobody knows, its provocative though, gets people going. Dipshit move not fit for those meant to be leaders.

She might be the least charismatic person in the country.

The idea that there should be age limits or term limits is inconsistent with the cry for meritocracy. Unless you just don't like Democratic Republics.

Or, to argue with myself, the issue is that the two parties have a monopoly. In which case again I say the most important issues to me are a combination of ranked-choice voting and open primaries.

I have spoken with her numerous times for various reasons.
The most awful thing she has ever done/said to me is to call me sweetheart.
As much as I try to believe she does it in a genuine kind manner, I can't help but wonder if she unconsciously (or consciously) does it to be condescending.
I'm not a big fan of her as a person and less of a fan of her as a politician but I hardly hate her.
I don't expect you to elaborate but I am seriously interested in why you feel she's "an awful human being" more so than other politicians. Or do you feel there are other politicians who are even more awful?

With all due respect:

Weak. Fucking. Sauce.

I asked you who would have been "a more effective" democratic speaker of the house.

She "Theatrically" tore up a speech, was your response.

Rising to where she did, as the first and only female speaker of the house ever despite rampant misogyny, and with only a 6-member majority, including managing to hold the democratic caucus together despite the progressive "Squad" of AOC, Ilhan Omar, Ayanna Presley, and Rashida Tliab constantly giving her static, she was able to make the first two years of the Biden Administration one of the most productive of any presidential term in the last 100 years.

For reference, what has Speaker Kevin McCarthy accomplished with his narrow, 4-member majority?

And that's not to mention how, despite all the noise and opposition from republicans, the media, and some democrats, she was able to help President Obama pass the Affordable Care Act and make health care available to tens of millions of Americans, who wouldn't have it otherwise.

I would like her more if congress would pass laws making it illegal for members of congress and their very large staffs to trade individual equities. But, if that's your rub, it applies to literally hundreds of other members of congress as well, and hardly distinguishes her.

The goalposts are amazingly mobile - the fact is that, with as much damage as the previous administration did to the office itself, Biden simply doing nothing much more than being what his critics want you to think he is...would have been a fulfilling presidency.

And he's done a whole hell of a lot more than that.

Also, I assume King Donald is counting the 1,000s of hours flying around the country whipping the nitwits into a froth as “working”.

Hey, anyone remember one of Trumps thousands of outright lies?

“Obama plays too much golf…you won’t see me playing golf, I won’t have time for it. I will be too busy making this country great again”!

Obama didn’t.
Trump did.
Trump made this country worse.
