Uncle Joe
Re: Uncle Joe
This comes off an snarky but isn't meant to: do you object to investment in improved intra-African rail transportation?
Because the analysis I've read suggests that - particularly with the involvement of partners that are not viewed on the continent as colonialist - the thinking is that improved infrastructure will serve to lower-case-d democratize the minerals industry, which (as a general matter) reduces corruption and power concentration.
Re: Uncle Joe
September 10, 2023-The media has focused on Biden's age while overlooking Trump's age related mental and physical challenges. This is part of their ongoing, and damaging commitment to both sidesism.

My guess is DC may have ALSO meant to post the rest of what he said. Which of course was indeed a large gaffe.jfish26 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 10, 2023 10:20 amThis comes off an snarky but isn't meant to: do you object to investment in improved intra-African rail transportation?

Why don't we try investing in our own country insteadjfish26 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 10, 2023 10:20 amThis comes off an snarky but isn't meant to: do you object to investment in improved intra-African rail transportation?

You must have a better opinion of me then biden then. He can't even seem to get the walking part down, without tripping. I wouldn't want to know what would happen if he tried to chew gum
Re: Uncle Joe
Is this any more, or any less, relevant than the clips of Trump not knowing how stairs or cups work, etc.?randylahey wrote: ↑Mon Sep 11, 2023 9:04 am You must have a better opinion of me then biden then. Amazing that the inflation and border hawks would also seem to be in favor of pure economic isolationism...twocoach wrote: ↑Mon Sep 11, 2023 9:41 amOur economy is global so that seems to be a good thing.randylahey wrote: ↑Mon Sep 11, 2023 8:54 am Biden is a damn globalist. Yes, because limiting ourselves to the confines of our borders won't have any negative impact on costs...jfish26 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 11, 2023 9:45 amAmazing that the inflation and border hawks would also seem to be in favor of pure economic isolationism...twocoach wrote: ↑Mon Sep 11, 2023 9:41 amOur economy is global so that seems to be a good thing.randylahey wrote: ↑Mon Sep 11, 2023 8:54 am Biden is a damn globalist. wut?
This isn't "both sidesism." It's "one guy is president and the other guy is not." They focused plenty on Trump's issues -- which, I agree, are real and should be disqualifying -- when he was president. And they'll do so again if/when necessary. The truth is that neither man could be trusted to make his own breakfast without burning the house down, and neither should be trusted with anything more consequential either.

Sorry. I wrote a longer response to this, but PDub's hamster was on break or something...so it disappeared into the ether. My understanding is that both current projects are largely Belt and Road financed.jfish26 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 10, 2023 10:20 amThis comes off an snarky but isn't meant to: do you object to investment in improved intra-African rail transportation?

Or maybe just funding and fixing some domestics issues here first

One of the issues we have in engineering right now is a lack of qualified/educated job candidates. This is for jobs that average $85k salaries. With 10 plus years of experience, that number can double. The number of Canadien engineering resumes in my email seems to grow all the time.twocoach wrote: ↑Mon Sep 11, 2023 9:41 amOur economy is global so that seems to be a good thing.randylahey wrote: ↑Mon Sep 11, 2023 8:54 am Biden is a damn globalist. The US exports around $250B in professional services a year to the rest of the world.
The two things might be related.
The service fees we collect on services sold outside the US is taxed at a lower rate than services sold in the US. So if one was to document their "time" on a US project and thereby lower the profit while lowering their "time" on lower taxed foreign projects raising those profits, you get to keep more of the collective profits. One thing engineers are good at is figuring out how to work formulas and spreadsheets.
If building wealth in the US is "globalist", fucking count me in bitches!
If the betaboy cultists can't compete in a worldwide economy, maybe they could spend less time building muscles for a fantasy competitive gun show and more time building marketable skills that will allow them to compete in economic reality.
Or they can just whine and bitch....don't make me no nevermind what self defeating activities the rubes engage in.

I guess I'm confused - what would you call withdrawing the US from global economic programs and initiatives? And how is that different from isolationism?randylahey wrote: ↑Mon Sep 11, 2023 10:14 am The fuck? When did anyone mention isolation?

Re: Uncle Joe
Whether economics or actual war, the betaboy cultists do not ever seem to understand why someone in the position of strength (being us) would want to fight battles on others' turf.japhy wrote: ↑Mon Sep 11, 2023 10:56 amOne of the issues we have in engineering right now is a lack of qualified/educated job candidates. Re: Uncle Joe
I thought that was an odd premise, too. But his point that "they want you to believe that Joe Biden's age is just as severe as Donald Trump's fascism", was spot on.DCHawk1 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 11, 2023 10:06 amwut?

There's almost never any mention, no qualifier, that what the Biden Administration accomplished in the last 2 years would't have been accomplished if he was anywhere near as mentally feeble as they and republicans would like us to believe. Because much like a house that isn't on fire, a horse race that isn't close, isn't news...
Did anyone hear that Trump attended a college football game this weekend? Wow! And not only that, he threw a football with a spiral. A real, mother---ing spiral, I tell you! I guess it was really something!
In contrast, anyone watching the MSM this weekend would had to have paid close attention to notice that Biden went to India and Viet Nam, and what he did while he was there.
Just like the last 7 years, it was nearly all Trump, all the time. Rinse, wash, dry, and repeat, and repeat.
I get why they do it, but it's not like it doesn't have an impact...day in and day out, 24/7/365.
Oh, and in case no one has mentioned it recently, Joe Biden is old.
