Oh
Oh, indeed:

According to the tax forms he has released, Biden received more than $900,000 from the university for holding the position between 2017 and 2019. His post "involved no regular classes and around a dozen public appearances on campus, mostly in big, ticketed events," the Philadelphia Inquirer reported.

Biden wasn't in office at the time. Considering what he was being paid/speech, he gave them a discount. Is it possible that having someone like Biden make those appearances benefitted the university in way$ above and beyond what they paid him?

Probably get elected to national office? Have you checked into how the likes of Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum manage a livelihood? Just because you (or I) don’t like the way someone gets paid doesn’t make it automatically illegal.

Now, how DID Jared Kushner come upon $2B from the Saudis?

I'm all for it!

Good for Joe.

My problem here is not with the money Joe made but with the senile old cranks who can't help but lie about the money Joe made.

And by that, of course, I mean Sparky.

Not in office does not equal without connections or political influence, but you already knew that.

All depends which prism you’re looking through, right?

Because through one prism, Biden’s personal wealth sort of strips the man-of-the-people veneer. Through that prism, one could see a good argument that the whole system is a ruse; the guy on the working class’s side hasn’t had to work, if he didn’t want to, in decades.

But through another prism, Biden’s personal wealth makes his positions on tax policy and labor and student loans and so on - all which positions, in and of themselves, are NOT directly beneficial to his personal bottom line - seem to come from a place of genuineness of character and principle.

Neither prism is reality - but nor is either one of them WRONG.

That's fine. It wouldn't change a thing if he was paid $.20.

The issue is that he thinks (or wants us to think) that he taught political theory classes, which he did not.

Congenital liar + dementia = Not great, Bob.

(And yes, that applies to more than one frontrunner in this race.)

Today In: Much like "One man's freedom fighter is another man's terrorist", one man's "veneer" can be another man's reality.

Or, that's one hell of a "prism", you got there:

According to CBS:

As recently as 2009, Biden's net worth was less than $30,000.

If that's true, one could argue that all it proves is that he is a horrible manager of personal finances.

When he began serving in the senate, Biden made a whopping $42,500/year.

A single parent with two boys and a residence in Wilmington, Maryland. He didn't want his infant sons to grow up without him, so he took the 1 1/2 hour-long train ride to DC, and 1 ½ hour-long trip back home, 259 miles round trip, everyday when the senate was in session. An average of 217 times per year.

Many congresspeople complain about the cost of having to maintain two residences, one in DC and another wherever they're from. To me, someone who would have a difficult time accepting 3 hours of commuting daily, it sounds to me like he was rather thrifty. Your opinion, may differ.

And I'm not saying that, as someone who complains and blames others for their economic situation you can't think and say what you like, but proceed with caution, because you're beginning to take on a somewhat green sheen...

Or you could take a step back and consider that your retelling of Biden's life story is more hagiography than biography. It's a common way to resolve cognitive dissonance, but tends to play pretty fast and loose with reality in the process.

No way! Brandon and Janet Yellen both say that the economy is fantastic. Just stop eating so much, quit driving your car on days that end in "y", and keep your thermostat at 45 degrees this winter, you rube!
