It's Game Day, Ladies and Gentlemen
Re: It's Game Day, Ladies and Gentlemen
This bad fan won't be watching - he's gonna skip all the ESPN+ games this season.

I want to see them keep their man in front of them on iso dribble drives.
Improved P&R D can wait until next game I suppose.

Lot's of tickets under $10 if anyone is close and wants an AFH fix.
Re: It's Game Day, Ladies and Gentlemen
by my calculation there are 9 espn+ games. over a span of 4 months.
Re: It's Game Day, Ladies and Gentlemen
The way I rationalize spending on ESPN+, Global Cycling Network & FloSports, (services that stream professional cycling around the world), PPV UFC fights*, etc., etc., is to think about the amount I'd have to spend, (and used to spend on Chiefs season tickets for years), to see the contest live, (Not even including how much I'd have to spend to travel to the venues.), and last but not least, how much joy watching it brings me, and it's pretty easy for me to think that's it's ok to $plurge for it.
*PPV UFC fights are now ~ $95/fight, so I only purchase them a few times/year.

I used to also rationalize that.
Unfortunately KUBB has taken a backseat a bit and am going to try giving it a bit more hands off approach this season ( which is STILL pretty rabid fandom for your usual BWW Chad ).
If I don't get the channel, so it goes.
If a game is on super late on a weekday, I may watch only a half.
( stop scheduling games starting at 9:30 ET plz )

Re: It's Game Day, Ladies and Gentlemen
Many sports and television providers still have the first day(s)/week of their season streamed for free. I guess not so much for the Worldwide Leader?
Re: It's Game Day, Ladies and Gentlemen
But, what if, theoretically speaking, not watching our JayHawks eats away at you, and you become depressed? And to console yourself, you begin self-medicating, and get addicted to drugs? Or, you start hanging out in bars like Gusher and develop an alcohol dependence and everyone hates you? Or, like one of our former posters, spend most of your nights at strip joints stuffing $20 and/ or $50 dollar bills in the g-strings of the dancers? Or, you start spending all your time at the casino because you've developed a gambling addiction to take the place of the adrenaline rush associated with watching our JayHawks compete, and your wife divorces you and gets the woke judge who spends their time off doing story time readings as a drag queen to children, who because he/she hates men, won't grant you visitation rights to see your child, so it disowns you and you never see it again?pdub wrote: ↑Mon Nov 06, 2023 1:38 pm I used to also rationalize that.

Is never seeing your wife and child again worth the cost of an ESPN+ subscription?
Is it!?

what if theoretically that stuff happens to you (i)because(/i) you watch our Jayhawks and the close games, comebacks, and losses have eaten the life out of your soul so you're trying to replace it with something...anything. Sort or like chasing the dragon but, not.Shirley wrote: ↑Mon Nov 06, 2023 2:54 pmBut, what if, theoretically speaking, not watching our JayHawks eats away at you, and you become depressed? What is the myth of chasing the dragon?
"Chasing the dragon" is a slang phrase of Cantonese origin from Hong Kong referring to inhaling the vapor from heated morphine, heroin, oxycodone or opium that has been placed on a piece of foil. The "chasing" occurs as the user gingerly keeps the liquid moving in order to keep it from coalescing into a single, unmanageable mass. Another more metaphorical use of the term "chasing the dragon" refers to the elusive pursuit of the ultimate high in the usage of some particular drug. Both usages have been frequently featured in popular culture.
A popular method of ingesting morphine, heroin, oxycodone or opium is to heat it on a piece of aluminum foil and, using a straw or tube, inhaling the vapour. In Hong Kong in the 1950s, this was known as “chasing the dragon.”
Today, chasing the dragon has another meaning: trying to replicate the high that was attained the first time a drug was used, and in that sense it is as mythic and futile as the expression implies.
"Chasing the dragon", or "foily" in Australian English, refers to inhaling the vapor of a powdered psychoactive drug off a heated sheet of aluminum foil. The moving vapor is chased after with a tube through which the user inhales.
