*Fact. Singular. No 's'. He's riding the one single fact as his counter to every issue that's been mentioned against it.
That's still one more than the people he's arguing against.

We still don't even know if this leave of absence is permanent, or even what it's really for.
I've been trying to be careful to use qualifiers like "assuming he's gone," "presumably," etc., but that doesn't really need to be said. It's a message board, pretty much all of the discussion exists in the hypothetical. If it turns out he's gone b/c he lost a child or had a severe medical condition induced mental breakdown, everyone adjusts their take on the situation. It doesn't need to be said.
I've just been burned too many times rushing to judgment. The Bragg case, the Dook Lacrosse case, the fact that I used to think Jo Paterno and Bill Cosby were good dudes, etc. make me always question whether things are what they seem and hesitant to rush to judgment.

I don't know what the likelihood is that Vick's leave of absence is legitimate, meaning, an actual family emergency, or some type of diagnosable and reasonable mental health issue. I think it's relatively unlikely, but at this point that likelihood is certainly not insignificant. And I think my opinion of Vick prior to this leave of absence, while certainly not entirely positive, was probably higher than the board average around here.

However, I think I've made my opinion about how I feel about quitting on a team pretty clear in things I've posted about guys like Frankamp. So, if things continue to play out like they have, that Vick basically got kicked off the team for being a bad apple, then I'm going to have a pretty negative overall opinion of him.

If he comes back for the NCAA's, some of his six-game focus could be the awesome, lol.

Well you're not an asshole for thinking that Bragg was likely guilty, or that you thought JoPa and Cosby were good guys and they turned out not to be. (IDK enough about dook LAX, but I also assume you weren't being an asshole there). You would be an asshole if you still thought all those things despite facts coming out against your initial reactions.

With Vick, there were on-court and off-court reasons before the leave of absence that would reasonably lead someone to believing he is a troubled player and maybe person. It's not unreasonable to think this leave of absence is the last in a long line of troubles. If it turns out that it's all personal, it's not some gotcha moment for those people that thought it was just part of the previous pattern. It also wouldn't change a thing about all the stuff Vick has put himself through prior to the past month.

I don't know....i like PhD's self-awareness. If you repeatedly go with the mob, you might not be an asshole, but how about a dumb fuck? And I definitely don't think PhD's a dumbfuck. So again, I like his awareness.

Sure, there were signs that he wasn't the model student-athlete...but we've had a ton of guys who had troubles on and off the court that were similar and some are beloved all-time great types of players.

For every piece of evidence that he was causing problems there were always things that mitigated it. He would get benched, but then he'd get his starting spot back. He was basically kicked off the team, but then he was allowed back. Sure, part of that was probably need based, but if he was REALLY a severe problem, that shouldn't matter.

And now we have Self saying it's temporary, and he'd be welcomed back, while simultaneously talking about how much fun the team is and media are saying Vick won't come back, etc. I think waiting to make any types of strong opinions about any of this is the prudent thing to do.

I like that KJ is getting more minutes and beginning to not look clumsy on the court. Same with Moore, to a degree. And McCormack.

McCormack's progression is really important to this team's potential at post-season success in my opinion.

I actually hide from my birthday, except in wanting it to influence things to go my way. The day isn’t mine.

What's the probability that Vick was let go because of a failed drug test?

Non zero chance. But i actually think fairly unlikely. I think if that had vern the case he would be gone for sure and there would be more transparency about the situation.

Yes and no? Purely hypothetically speaking - if a drug test was administered by the school/program (and not the conference or NCAA), then (a) there wouldn't necessarily be a suspension or formal action, and (b) shit, for all I know KU would be prohibited from releasing any information.

Well i know there have been cases at other schools, particularly in football, where the school has issued a suspension and statement regarding failed drug test.

Slightly different as it was performancing enhancing drugs, but Clemson this year had that happen before the playoffs

Not everyone on our coaching staff can pass a drug test, they're not kicking players off for smoking weed.

Well i mean yeah.

But, then again, I'm pretty i could've suited up and not hurt the team in that game. I mean, charlie moore played 19 minutes.....
