To anyone with eyes/ears……YES!
What’s interesting, too, is that everyone is focusing on the word “insurrection” in the disqualification clause - and not inappropriately so; lighting a match and handing it to someone else who throws it on a pile of leaves that burns a house down can easily still be arson.

But, the disqualification clause also includes the word “rebellion” against the Constitution. I think that an operation designed to circumvent the Constitutional transfer of power (by, among other things, pursuing known-to-be-fruitless legal challenges and using them to invent a requirement of punting to state legislatures or to produce false slates of electors) is a rebellion against the Constitution.

That being said, since the republican 2024 sweepstakes began, I've always felt she likely presented the biggest threat to Biden, not only but mainly because she lost the genetics lottery and is missing a Y chromosome...

However, and even tho in many ways she (imo) has done better in the debates than the other pretenders, she has been a huge disappointment, at least up to now. (Being the best house in a bad neighborhood isn't a bad thing, but the bar has been pretty low.)

Everyone understands why none of the republican candidates, (other than Christie who doesn't have much of a chance), who haven't paid for sex with a porn star, (that we know of), will criticize the guy who stole classified information and then refused to return it. It's republican political suicide. But if you're running against Trump, but being careful not to run against Trump, your chances of beating Trump aren't good.

What's her position on abortion? One minute she's lecturing her party about how they have to be nicer to women vis-a-vis abortion, and the next she's meeting with evangelicals in Iowa telling them she'll sign a 6-week federal ban on abortion. Which is it, Nikki?

She's also in favor of changing Social Security by delaying the age when people become eligible. That might sound good to the Koch brothers, Leonard Leo, Harlan Crow, and japhy, but telling the nation's janitors, secretaries, and blue collar workers they have to work into their late 60s before they qualify is not going to play well in the run up to the election.

And, although if Trump is convicted and facing prison her "inclination to pardon" him will definitely be a benefit, if she actually beats Trump in the primaries and gets the nomination fair and square, it's hard to imagine that Trump won't go out sideways and do everything he can to hold onto his cult members and take her and other republicans who lack the cult loyalty gene, down with him.

But, what do I know. Plus, it's too far out to know anything for sure. Yet.

Pretty sure the Boomers would have revolted against being forced to work up to around 6 years’ life expectancy.

But, the next generation simply should have worked harder

A. I assume SOME "demographics" of people are living a lot longer but as a whole I believe that's not true - that "people" are living a lot longer.

B. Why would it make sense to push back the retirement age? Do you really want to continue to pay more taxes so you will personally see less benefit/s from doing as such?

C. I cringe when people refer to "THE retirement age". You are free to retire at whatever age you choose.
I have been paying employment taxes most of my life since I was 15 years old. I work 9+ hours a day 5 days a week and I pay hundreds of dollars every paycheck specifically to/for "Social Security tax" (as well as Medicare). I don't feel it's selfish of me to expect to receive social security retirement benefits if I decide to retire at 62. If I am forced to wait until I am older to collect my benefits, so be it but I am NEVER going to "support" that happening.

D. Of all the current GOP candidates, I can somewhat understand someone preferring Haley, As long as Trump continues to run and stays out of jail, you might as well vote for Ronald McDonald in your Primary.

As Trad points out in his linked post above, MichHawk, to the surprise of no one, is full of shit.

Life expectancy in the US peaked and has been going down for over a decade. There are a combination of reasons, but as of 2021, mainly as a result of the combination of drug overdoses and deaths due to Covid, life expectancy in the US fell back to the level it had been 26 years prior. And, unlike other developed societies, even after the number of Covid deaths subsided, life expectancy in the US continued to fall.

Which makes the "moderate" republican effort to raise the age to qualify for Social Security benefits, (as opposed to doing away with Social Security as many republicans have dreamed of doing for decades), even more questionable.

Those charts in life expectancy declines correspond neatly with the rise of the Tea Party. Their avarice came with a death panel ironically. In other news, the S&P is at its highest yearly gain in a century under Biden. Both sides indeed.

It does kinda stall out around 2010 don’t it.

I’d also mention that’s the year the ACA was passed, but I dunno if there’s any real correlation.

I more so wanted to mention Occupy Wall Street, and how it might have been the last actual people’s movement in this country. But rather than getting any real traction, we got the Tea Party instead. #Merica

(Well, maybe BLM was a people’s movement too, but look how quick that narrative got changed to a bunch of looters and thugs)

The ACA Medicaid expansion, if accepted by red states, would have put a dent in the numbers perhaps. But the cycle of underfunding the bulk of America has led to dietary issues and expanded menial work to make ends meet.

I wonder why I haven't heard one word about this anywhere?

Could it be because a house that isn't on fire, isn't news?
