I have these, and they've never let me down.jhawks99 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 30, 2023 7:54 pm I've said before, probably in this thread, that I have 3 pairs of shoes. 1 pair of brown dress shoes, 1 pair of black dress shoes and my Adidas tennis shoes.
I'm told it gets cold here and I'll probably need a par of boots. Warm and water proof are important, comfortable would be nice.
Whatcha got? I don't want to spend too much, but I also realize I get what I pay for.

2nd vote for Arctic muck boots.
they slip on and off, so not as snug a fit as something with laces. But, the slip-on can be more convenient than laces. And less snug means more space for socks. Qusdahl and NiceDC can make a boot extra toasty. And they go up to almost your knee so you can romp right through snow and stay warm and dry. I've had the same pair for years and still going strong.
not to make you go too nuts with expanding your footwear collection, but as someone who also lives in a stupid cold climate, I suggest both:
1. a pair of proper winter boots like those for big snow days and/or extended time out in the cold
2. a pair of gore-tex hiking boots to wear more day to day. They aren't as warm as a proper snow boot but still warmer than sneakers; a nice middle cup or porridge between the two. Better traction than sneakers while being more comfy to wear all day than a boot, too. Plus, gore tex makes it nbd if your foot dunks into unexpected slush puddles and such.

LLBean is a hop and a skip away from me, I can get discounts and they make good boots and while they got rid of their lifetime return policy - 1 year return is still pretty good.
I have a pair of these currently for traversing winter on a regular day:
And then, for when shit hits the fan, these:

Gutter, I know you're conflicted about living in Chicago, so maybe you should move to Portland?

A pair of gold-colored Nike Air Jordan 3 shoes, similar to ones worn by film director Spike Lee in 2019, were found in a Portland donation bin for the homeless and sold at Sotheby's auction for $50,800. Reporter Drew Reeves with CNN affiliate KPTV has the story.

I'm pretty sure I'm allowed to dislike a shoe without my masculinity being threatened? Some shoes I think are ugly? That's a weird response.
Yea...I saw the Jayhawk. I'm also not automatically required to libe every piece of apparel with a Jayhawk on it. Much like there are uniforms people don't like, and shirts and goodies people don't buy.
It's a pretty normal thing and me saying they're ugly is an odd thing to get twisted about.
Just Ledoux it

But it's totally "normal" for you to get "twisted" about a pair shoes, even if they have a Jayhawk on them.

I also stand by my statement that I'm not automatically required to gush in and on about everything with a Jayhawk on it. It's ok to be honest.
