In each of these instances there were people defending the underlying abomination as “It’s in the Constitution”. Ultimately they were proven wrong. The NRA and their ardent supporters are not that different from the Southern plantation owners who tried to hold on to the last vestiges of slavery.

Getting rid of the Second Amendment doesn’t mean that guns will be outlawed. It’s just that firearms sales can be regulated without running afoul of a twisted interpretation thereof.
