Veach ain't the problem. He built the closest thing to a dynasty in the modern NFL
And the tyreek trade made sense. I miss him too but we couldn't afford to keep him and got a shitload of draft picks for him. Also we won a superbowl without him

Re: Chiefs 2023
I honestly like our receiver group. I just feel like we are missing a #1 receiver and they are all one spot to high on the depth chart
And I think rice is going to grow into a star, just hard to ask that of a rookie. I like Justin Watson a lot, he's a good player to have as part of your receiver group.
MVS is inconsistent but had his moments in the past, no tyreek makes it a lot harder for him to find himself open. He just seems like a guy who would thrive more in a smaller role
Kadarius toney tho.. I'm ready to replace him. He's a gamble that didn't pay out. He's shifty with the ball in his hands. But is a terrible wr

Re: Chiefs 2023
The biggest 2 problems with the chiefs this season compared to the past few, is turnovers and penalties. They are unusually bad
Both are correctable tho. If they can avoid dumb shit like that the rest the season, they are still capable of making a run

Re: Chiefs 2023
I don’t know how anyone who has watched football before and then this season can like our receiver group.
MVS is pretty useless and very overpaid.
Watson is fine as a no. 5 option.
Rice looks to be a keeper.
Skyy is a bust and Toney is loosing us games.

So. The problem is WR depth, but also it's not Veach's fault.randylahey wrote: ↑Tue Dec 26, 2023 12:04 pm I honestly like our receiver group. I just feel like we are missing a #1 receiver and they are all one spot to high on the depth chart

Without injuries being the problem (which, they're not), these two things really aren't compatible.
But, so it goes.

Just looking to next year, how would you draft or FA? Guessing Chris Jones is gone, so draft Defensive lineman first, then WR? Then use money saved from resigning CJ and find a stud WR? I’m not even sure how many draft picks the Chiefs have. Then demote Naggy and find a quality OC? Seasons not lost obviously, but just don’t see this team getting past the first round and if they do, then all games will be on the road. No biweek I’m afraid.

3 year 30 million deal is what he's on. Overpaid? Maybe. But it's not an outrageous contract or anything. I think the chiefs felt he was a good value receiver. He just hasn't been #1 receiver good/consistent
Rice everyone loves. He's good already as a rookie and will only get better.
Watson has been solid. If he's your 4th option as receiver he's a good piece. Him and mahommes have good chemistry
I'm not overreacting and melting down like the rest of chiefs nation who forgot its tough to win in the NFL, and that's the receiver core I like. I do think they need to add another high end threat another #1/2 option

They've won 2 superbowls and consistently been competing for them. How the fuck is veach a problem?jfish26 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 26, 2023 12:51 pmSo. They are the most consistent and successful program right now

But yes pdub. Skyy and toney have been awful. There is no reason to move forward with either one after this season

Here in the adult world, Veach can (1) be an excellent GM that we wouldn’t trade for any other, and also (2) capable of making mistakes. He fucked this up. He’s still awesome.
I cannot believe we need to do this on, of all things, a KU Basketball-centric message board.
Re: Chiefs 2023
In those highlights of MVS, he does look good, but so does Mahomes. Something is out of sync between the QB and his WR’s. Maybe it’s not having EB, maybe Mahomes has lost his confidence, I don’t know.
Re: Chiefs 2023
MVS is sort of like … I dunno, Conner Frankamp? You go from seeing a possible all-around game to seeing a specialist, and then it turns out he’s fairly questionable at even what he’s supposed to be a specialist at?
Re: Chiefs 2023
I agree, but Mahomes just seems off this year as well. His interceptions have been questionable. He’s not firing bullets downfield that are spot on like in the past few years. Maybe he’s injured and they’re not releasing it. Don’t get me wrong, I love Mahomes, but his game is just off. Maybe he’s lost confidence in his WRs after all the drops this year and he’s forcing throws that end up in in interceptions.
Re: Chiefs 2023
Mahomes is not sharp at all. He hasn't been finding open guys as much either, irrespective of drops. Some of it is team exhaustion. They have played loooong seasons.

Re: Chiefs 2023
Mahommes has been human this year. Not super human. He's even been frustrated
But honestly, it the chiefs avoid a key penalty in this game, a missed call in that game, a dropped pass in another game, etc...
They're 9-6 season could easily be 12-3 or so
The sky isn't falling. They start taking care of the ball and limit penalties, no reason they can't make a run to end the season

I agree with that Randy

I just don’t think it goes away overnight. Possible he’s hurt. Very likely, to me, that he’s trapped in a system that the other guys around him can’t execute - a system that relies on them improvising (with him) to get open and then catch the ball.
Re: Chiefs 2023
I think it’s that.
The WRs not only are poor at fundamentals, catching the ball, but the advanced aspects which is reading the defense and memorizing and running correct routes.

Re: Chiefs 2023
Right. If you replace Hunter Dickinson with Hunter Mickelson and try to run our same stuff, it would make Dajuan look like Naadir.
