Chiefs 2023
Re: Chiefs 2023
Sure.
And while you’re at it, replace McCullar with Merv Lindsay.
Here’s Kelce who only has to say that’s he’s not doing his job so he doesn’t single out everyone else. Kelces doing fine I’m guessing.
“ Every single play is somebody not doing their job, and it's me ... it's everybody on the team. And whether that's prep, whether that's having the confidence and understanding of what the defense is in their coverages, their gaps in the run game, how we're picking up blitzes, how we're running routes versus certain coverages. All the above."

Exactly. And that's where it gets so complicated. Because there is ALSO a side of me that wants to say the room wasn't exactly a surprise, so maybe it was a mistake of extreme arrogance to think running our normal stuff was gonna work.pdub wrote: ↑Wed Dec 27, 2023 12:36 pm Sure.

Certainly it's the case that Hardman never developed, and it doesn't appear that Toney or Moore are developing.
Re: Chiefs 2023
I'm guessing all the powers that be agreed to a point that they could teach these guys to play in this system...and it was just a hard swing and a miss.
With massive QB contracts you have to take cuts somewhere -- and they just went way too light in the WR department.
Again, Mahomes is kind of a co GM here to a point - he CAN solve this particular issue as soon as next year if he wants to.
Re: Chiefs 2023
I'm picking up what you're laying down - and yes, it's certainly possible that this is the sort of thing that causes one to wear more of the co-GM hat than the QB1 hat.pdub wrote: ↑Wed Dec 27, 2023 1:04 pmI'm guessing all the powers that be agreed to a point that they could teach these guys to play in this system...and it was just a hard swing and a miss.

But - and I'm by no means dismissing points you've previously made about the WR options - the first failure here was what they did with Jones.
And that failure will be rectified by (1) letting Jones walk, and (2) getting a haul for Sneed.
Re: Chiefs 2023
I’m guessing the Chiefs made a very hefty offer to Jones. He and his agents just fucked that to oblivion. I guess they should have preemptively seen that Jones would not negotiate and dealt him but for me, that’s more on Chris Jones than it is the Chiefs.
In the end, maybe it works out in the Chiefs favor as they avoid an albatross of a contract.
The Jones situation clearly bothered guys like Kelce. It also put the Chiefs in a tough spot to make moves early in the offseason.

So this is kinda like expecting a great vacation and being offered a timeshare presentation first, right?
Re: Chiefs 2023
This is like being robbed by the timeshare salesman
Re: Chiefs 2023
Nah.
I do wonder, though, if they'll sit Mahomes and Kelce in Week 18 (assuming a win this week, in which the offense looks good).
At that point, the seeding advantage (to winning versus losing in Week 18) is incremental and I could see an argument in favor of a mental break for Mahomes and a physical break for Kelce.
I briefly considered that Mahomes isn't limping around and doesn't need to sit, really, but with as wretched as things have been with Kelce, I absolutely would not put Mahomes out there without him.
Re: Chiefs 2023
There's a chance.
We don't have Jerrick McKinnon who is an important part of our busted offense.
We could also be down Pacheco.
I'd throw it 15 times to Rashee Rice and see what happens.

Re: Chiefs 2023
I'm hoping that we're pissed off and go to work and blow these bums out. But we'll see.
Defense. Rebounds.
Re: Chiefs 2023
It depends on what the possible opponents would be in the 2 v 7 or 3 v 6. You’d consider sitting players for part of the week 18 game if Buffalo was looking like the 7.
But with that shittacular loss to the Raiders we might be very locked into the 3.

Romo. Just hate him any more
Re: Chiefs 2023
Yeah. Last week that OL played soft. Pacheco is important too.
Re: Chiefs 2023
Missed a clear procedure penalty on second down. Rolling after that
Re: Chiefs 2023
Would be nice if the defense could get a stop at some point. Cincy keeping Mahomes on the bench .
