Re: 2024
lol at randi’s response…so predictable
Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?
Re: 2024
The Randalls of the world simply cannot comprehend that Trump really, truly is a single-issue candidate: himself.
First, last, only, always.
He has no principles beyond (1) staying out of jail, (2) enriching himself, and (3) punishing his enemies.
Re: 2024
Randy railing on the"war machine" along with Ousdahl shows the penetration into the information space of Russian disinformation operations. Left and right co-opted by the same message which, on the one hand concerns the cost of national defense and world engagement, and on the other hand screams about human rights. In the instance of Ukraine, they claim it is too costly and human rights don't matter because bad stuff from 1973. Rinse, repeat. It was the tax cuts on the wealthy that created the fiscal disorder, not spending money on American businesses and infrastructure. And we are at a critical point where we can de-fang Russia once and for all. So of course we must stop.
Re: 2024
For the sake of this thread, let’s set aside the Ukraine issue specifically.Sparko wrote: ↑Fri Jan 19, 2024 12:42 pm Randy railing on the"war machine" along with Ousdahl shows the penetration into the information space of Russian disinformation operations. Let’s instead bring up another “war machine” issue that appears far more relevant in this thread, as it is costing Biden far more dearly.
Do we think any narrative that even slightly deviates from “stand with Israel (by handing them another blank check’s worth of weapons),” is also Russian propaganda?
And, just for shits and gigs: randy what’s your take on the Israel/Palestine issue specifically?

No.
if he is guilty of what he is being accused of, I feel he should serve time in prison.
If he's not guilty, I feel he shouldn't serve time in prison.
Regardless of his age, his former job, and if it unifies or divides our country.

In my opinion, whether we're talking about the 14th Amendment or about the various criminal charges pending against Trump, a resolution that stops short of holding him fully accountable for his actions because of fear of what it would mean politically or socially...is highly damaging to the rule of law (and, accordingly, highly favorable to the rise of authoritarian power).RainbowsandUnicorns wrote: ↑Fri Jan 19, 2024 2:51 pmNo.

Re: 2024
I have to admit that I ignore Tim Scott, for the most part. Frankly, it's hard for me to take a Black Evangelical Christian hypocrite like him, seriously. So, other than seeing his endorsement of Trump yesterday as a not very subtle, brownnosing attempt on his part to be named Trump's VP candidate in the future or at least remain relevant, and a stab in the back to former SC Gov Nikki Haley who appointed him to be a senator in the first place, I didn't think about it much. But, Mitchell has a point:
January 20, 2024-It is no surprise that Tim Scott endorsed Donald Trump. It is also apparent that Scott would be a very strong running mate for Trump
Mitchell MInute 1775-Tim Scott Endorses Donald Trump
That being said, Stefanik as Trump's VP would be even worse.

Of course this joke is actually pretty much what happens.Trump could say in a speech that he pledges to end Social Security, pull us out of NATO, and try Biden’s entire Cabinet for treason, and the regular network (not cable news) and local TV morning shows would lead with the latest poll results and never mention it.

it’s the normalization of truly disturbing behavior and comments, and anyone saying they’re just words and bluster hasn’t been paying attention (or is doing so intentionally with some motivations that are very much anti-Democracy)

Our country has been constantly involved in foreign conflicts for decades and decades. And a lot of people make huge profits from it. And it keeps us in power. We have military bases all over the world

Randy: the real war machine is "Libertarians" against the people of the U.S.: Health care, infrastructure, fair wages, taxes--all stomped on every day by rich oligarchs. And it is time we started defining it as such--war against democracy.
Re: 2024
LOL
Of course Trump is old and confused (among many other things).
But you don't get it both ways.
Either this is a nothingburger or Biden is unfit for office.
Pick one.
