At least the response is highly on-brand.pdub wrote: ↑Tue Jan 30, 2024 11:46 amKinda difficult to trust you here bud.randylahey wrote: ↑Tue Jan 30, 2024 11:38 am Stats are a horrible barometer for anything. Do your own research.
Re: Welcome Dajuan Harris!!!!!!
Do we really think the people making these lists aren't looking at stats?
That would mean they would have to be watching all of these players for at least half of their games -- you couldn't just see a couple and make those decisions.
They are most certainly using stats as a major launching pad.
Re: Welcome Dajuan Harris!!!!!!
I have no idea what the watch list criteria are (if there are any at all). But I am comfortable saying that name recognition and stats are probably quite impactful.pdub wrote: ↑Tue Jan 30, 2024 1:42 pmDo we really think the people making these lists aren't looking at stats?

I was one of early dajuans biggest haters. But he's developed into a very nice college playerrandylahey wrote: ↑Tue Jan 30, 2024 11:38 am Stats are a horrible barometer for who's a better point guard
I'll always wish he was faster. Quickness is pretty essential to being an elite point guard, but is elite in other ways

Well sure.randylahey wrote: ↑Tue Jan 30, 2024 3:24 pm If they were just using stats, dajuan probably wouldn't be on there
( and by probably we mean absolutely no chance )
But there’s a large leap from “horrible barometer” to “just using stats”.

Do academics play a part in the list?

Head Coach Matt Painter on Braden Smith not making the 2024 Bob Cousy Award list:
“It was like the Indiana high school sectional. I think they just drew it out of a hat...yea it didn't make no sense...I would think that anyone on a committee would sit down you go through stats...if you go look at his numbers and how efficient he's been and how he's played and how his team's done...”

Re: Welcome Dajuan Harris!!!!!!

Re: Welcome Dajuan Harris!!!!!!
Braden is a decent little player, and there's nothing wrong with sticking up for your player. But painter has absolutely lost it if he thinks Braden is one of the 10 best point guards in the countrypdub wrote: ↑Tue Jan 30, 2024 4:53 pm https://twitter.com/kellyhals/status/17 ... 7602769924

Re: Welcome Dajuan Harris!!!!!!
Purdue no. 2 in the nation.
Kenpom SOS no. 1.
12.1 PPG, 5.5 RPG, 7 APG, 46.3% FG, 43.8% 3FG, 1.5 SPG.
Kansas no. 8 in the nation.
Kenpom SOS no. 22.
7.4 PPG, 2 RPG, 6.9 APG, 42.3% FG, 45.5% 3FG, 1.6 SPG.
More points, rebounds, assists, better FG%.
Dajuan better 3FG ( doesn't take as many ) and .1 more steals.
Your response, which has to do with statistics not proving anything, means so very little to me due to your post history.

Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?
Re: Welcome Dajuan Harris!!!!!!
That's nice and all but i'd rather hear Hawklin in the Satellite Shack women's restroom dealing shrooms thoughts on college basketball than Dick Vitale's at this point.
Vitale is a CBB icon. He also has no idea about CBB anymore.

Did he ever have an idea? He’s a failed coach turned catchphrase guru
I’m pleased Dajuan’s ppg is slowly on the up-and-up tho too

Ever since Self subtly called him out by not calling him out, he's been better.
Re: Welcome Dajuan Harris!!!!!!
holy shit dude, like the guy or not the guy pisses out more basketball knowledge than you've ever had several times a day.
When'd you start watching? like 2007? yea....it shows in your terrible hot takes. I dont particularly like Vitale, but the dude has been around the game for 50 years.
