Finding New Shit on TV
Re: Finding New Shit on TV
so, so far "Last of Us" is basically True Grit but modernized and apocalyptic with random zombies

So a story about a beaten down hero protecting a young person/character who then learns over the story to defend for themselves?

Oh no.
Carl Weathers.

I didn't say I didn't like it. I do. I just keep thinking of Rooster and company as I watch.

Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?

Best Carl Weathers moment:

The first episode of the last season of Larry David's Curb Your Enthusiasm is on HBO, I mean, "Max"* tonight.
*Throwing away a brand as well-known and respected as HBO and changing it to "Max", ranks along with Leon changing twitter to "X" as one of the dumbest rebranding moves of all time, imo.

Watched the first half of Oppenheimer last night ( treating it like a 2 part mini series ).
I love Nolan's movies - you really have to focus too so that you can piece together timelines ( this one not nearly as confusing as something like Tenet ).
Murphy locks down that smugness/brilliance line.
Good lord, Florence Pugh is a smokeshow.

I liked Holdovers better than I have liked Oppenheimer so far - but Oppenheimer is more deserving of best picture.
I actually stopped watching Maestro because I was so bored.
Barbie was really good - just not best picture good.
I've yet to see Anatomy of a Fall, Killers of the Flower Moon ( have the book, need to read it ), Past Lives, Poor Things ( which i've heard is great ) and The Zone of Interest.
