Re: Refs
I didn't notice this when it happened but I wasn't paying attention. Why didn't the refs notice it?

Re: Refs
I saw it on the replay when it happened. Jones got up limping favoring the leg that got whipped/tripped. Looked like maybe knee to knee blow. I think I commented on it during the game.RainbowsandUnicorns wrote: ↑Mon Jan 29, 2024 7:27 pm I didn't notice this when it happened but I wasn't paying attention. Why didn't the refs notice it?

Or maybe by the time I typed the comment, it was too late to post, I don't know.

When I saw it live I thought he was thrown to the ground. Should have been a safety.RainbowsandUnicorns wrote: ↑Mon Jan 29, 2024 7:27 pm I didn't notice this when it happened but I wasn't paying attention. Why didn't the refs notice it?

My biggest complaint about officials, more so in basketball, is consistency. Too often you see someone whistled for something and then right afterward see someone on the other team get away with the same thing with no call. I know they're human beings. I know it's hard. When you're reffing pros and big time college, fans are going to hold you to a higher standard.

um
Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?

Re: Refs
This game is relatively meaningless in the grand scheme of things. As long as the SB refs are KC friendly I'll take the bad calls tonight.

"The Chiefs were the sixth most penalized team in the NFL during the regular season, tied with the Tennessee Titans, at 126 penalties, or about 7.4 per game. That’s higher than the overall regular season average of 6.8."
"Officials called 95 penalties against Chiefs opponents. Only the New England Patriots and Chicago Bears saw fewer collective penalties against their opponents in the regular season. About 96% of penalties against Chiefs opponents happened before the final two minutes of a game."

Re: Refs
The timing of penalties coincided with scoring plays or opportunities a lot. Several TDs taken off the board for major penalties that required a liberal read of rules to throw. Or not throw in the Green Bay game. The penalties tend to even out over time. But a spate of flags followed the opening game where the announcers kept yammering about it. That was bad timing too--a whole season remained for the 0-1 Chiefs. A flurry of flags after that for sure.pdub wrote: ↑Sat Feb 10, 2024 10:54 am "The Chiefs were the sixth most penalized team in the NFL during the regular season, tied with the Tennessee Titans, at 126 penalties, or about 7.4 per game. That is against the rules.
That’s 2nd and 15 refs.
