Sure, I don't disagree.

But, in my opinion, things right now are set up in such a way that if you do not start from a position of advantage, it is SIGNIFICANTLY harder today than it was 40 years ago to put your own kids in a position of advantage.

Especially if you do not live within your means, which seems to get harder and harder as each passing generation of parents wants their kids to have "more than we had growing up". What the average young people say they "need" these days is ridiculous.

Of course parents with means have responsibility, too; I am not DEFENDING young adults making bad decisions, but all it takes is one kid with his or her parents' money, and then the whole group is making bad decisions with money they don't all have.

That is not necessarily well-articulated - what I'm referring to is that, in my opinion, kids these days are going to bars and restaurants that are priced for people making real money. Looking back at my 20s, I woulda been broke broke broke broke broke if I was going to places the 20-somethings go now.
