I think the most realistic scenario has Furphy going late 1st round.
( please don't provide me any mocks that have him as 11 or something )

Maybe he isn't even drafted 1st round. Or maybe he's drafted 20th.
Let's put it somewhere in between at 25.

Now I also think the most realistic scenario for Furphy would be to significantly improve at Kansas. Look to Ochai, Jalen Wilson, Kevin McCullar in the last 3 years. Personally I think he could jump to top 10...but let's put him just at the end of the lottery.

Now here's the first 4 years ( most pick up the 4th year option on a 1st round pick - but you'd far more likely pick up the 4th year option on a lotto pick )

25th:
2.2 + 2.3 + 2.4 + 4.3

11.2 million 1st 4 years.

14th:
3.6 + 3.8 + 4 + 5.9
17.3 million 1st 4 years.

Furphy might be loosing out on that 1st year of 2.2 million but David Booth and company will at least have 500k to bring Furphy back so let's say 1.7 million loss that total.

That's about 4 and a half million you lost - and that's being conservative with Mass Street collective and our other funnels that totally aren't connected to Kansas.

I think he's just presenting realistic scenarios. Not saying he likes NIL.

I agree with PDub. I don't think Furphy "should" go pro after this season. I think his chances for long term NBA success greatly improve the longer he stays in college.

But, that rarely seems to stop guys in his position, especially at his age. He should have a long talk with KM. KM has been trying to go for years, but stayed, kept getting better each year, and now he looks like a guy who could not only get drafted but also get a 2nd contract.

Correct.
You'd think you'd have picked up on context clues from previous discussions AND maybe in the actual post:

Or Ochai.
Or Braun.
Or Udoka.

So you at least advocate for the realistic scenario of leveraging NIL if it keeps kids you like in school longer.

No.
If Furphy wants to leave for money go for it.
Much like MICH would say, "I won't really remember him".

I'm stepping out of my opinion on the matter ( college basketball went from 10 out of 10 to 5 out of 10 in the last 2 years because of NIL ) and discussing something from an objective stand point if Furphy's main intentions are to make as much money as possible.

When you're young all you want to do is be grown up, and then when you're grown up all you want to do is be young again.

I am curious to see what he does. The feeling around him has shifted from 2-3yr player to likely to leave in a hurry.

Would you rather have:

1 year of Bidunga?

Or 1 more year of HD?

How quickly we forget.

He gets abused by big players. He is not a shot blocker. He is not a good rebounder.

How does he survive against athletic and long 7ft players?

Take a look at the top teams around the country. Houston is about the only 1 without a real big guy that I can think of. A lot of the elite teams have a legit 7ft guy that would eat Kj alive. It was a big reason why last years team had what felt like a lower ceiling than other similarly ranked teams we've had.

Kj is perfect as a defensive 4, and he's averaging 12pts per game at the 4, so it's not like he isn't scoring there. He can over power 3s and 4s with his combo of strength/speed. He can't do that with 5s.

He's a liability at the 5. So what, we can switch everything? Any good coach is going to easily create a mismatch an abuse a small player down low.

You're trying to "hide" his shooting, but in the process it is a net negative for offense and defense as a whole.

That said, with HD out, Kj is playing the 5 for however long we need it this year.
Which might only be 2 or 3 games.

Offensively absolutely.

Our offense might flow better without hunter... beleive it or not.

Play 4 out and run KJ through Hella pick and rolls. More spacing and they won't be able to sag off KJ. But everybody will have to actually knock down 3s

This year.

He put his question in the next year lineup thread. We definitely don't want Kj at the 5 long term.

And yes, they can sag off of Kj because he can't shoot. Don't you remember how they played him last year? And we had more outside shooting last year, and 2 guys (GD and JW) that could drive to the rim.

Kj is not good at scoring over or against size. He's good at using his strength to get past smaller guys and then dunking it.

Depends on the rest of the roster. Hunter is going to be a better individual player obviously. But I'm OK with people answering bidunga. I miss having athleticism and shot blocking at that position

I don't know my answer.

All the best teams in CBB seem to have multiple future NBA players. Hunter is not a future NBA player.
