I'm OK with Hunter, but I'm ready for his time as a Jayhawk to be over.pdub wrote: ↑Tue Mar 12, 2024 3:13 pmA lot of truth to this but I cannot reiterate enough that I think he, outside of the central issue I have with NIL and he being the poster boy for it, is not a likable player.randylahey wrote: ↑Tue Mar 12, 2024 2:56 pm Hunter was bound to be hated whether he deserves it or not. Most lifetime college basketball fans HATE the recent changes in the game cause by the NIL/transfer portal. And in a lot of ways hunter represents that to this fan base

not a problem, but thanks, I'll keep that in mind.Back2Lawrence wrote: ↑Tue Mar 12, 2024 6:46 pmif you ever suffer from ED, just think of Ousdahl. Because you sure do have a hard on for him.TDub wrote: ↑Tue Mar 12, 2024 2:01 pm lol at Q calling out anyone....anyone for a schtick.
also, not everybody was surprised at CBs development, it was fairly obvious he had the intangibles that were going to make him an impactful player.
Q is just....Q.
Also, yes, CB did have some on court antics that I didn't particularly enjoy and Pdub called out often, the difference, to me anyway, is that his antics seemed to come more out of passion/competitiveness and less out of "look at me and how awesome I am". Hunter just looks like a damn selfish fool in his "celebrations".

I'm ok with it, solely because it kept us from participating in the black jersey era.

Re: Recruiting
Would have also kept us off the important wire taps though.

Butterfly Effect shit. I'd be worried about being a ripe fall program for Duke and UK.DeletedUser wrote: ↑Thu Mar 14, 2024 10:04 amWould have also kept us off the important wire taps though.

Re: Recruiting
I always say we should have never left Nike. There's certain recruits that won't even hear us out because of the Adidas thing. Cooper Flagg for example

If they are that type of player, not interested.

Re: Recruiting
I wouldn't mind Nike funneling a few of the best prospects through here. Adidas does it too. Just not quite as effective as it, but they did get wiggins here. Nike is a more popular product.i guarantee if we switch back to Nike when our Adidas contract is up, we would see an uptick in high end recruits

We most likely would have had DeAndre ayton and maybe zion too. But Adidas lost that bidding war to Nike

No.randylahey wrote: ↑Thu Mar 14, 2024 10:56 amWe'd have an empty roster if we didn't sign guys that wanted to sign with popular apparel companies for money
And that's also not what I was saying.
But you do you randy.

I remember being excited for, and following the recruiting process....now, not so much

Re: Recruiting
There's zero clever or snark or gotcha intended here - what we saw last night was a roster without our two most obvious examples on our roster of the new world.
What is it that opponents of the new world want out of Kansas basketball going forward?

Re: Recruiting
If I knew we weren't paying players 2 million dollars to come here, give me 8 seed season, followed by 4 seed season, followed by 1 seed season -- hanging onto upperclassmen.
Udeh, Bryce Thompson, Zuby, Pettiford - still on the roster - plus other guys who'd have come bc we didn't fill spots with transfers.

People would call for Self to be fired if they had an 8 seed season. KU is going to be a 4 seed and some fans have checked out for the season.

I am talking about me not the typical fan base.
I am also fine with him buying into the system of professional basketball and trying to be the best at that. It's just another path.
Winning vs standing up for your principles ( my principles in this case ).
Not that unlike voting for candidate 1 or 2 or not.

Re: Recruiting
Roy had a couple 8-seed years at KU...I don't remember anyone calling for his job.
Re: Recruiting
there was no social media back then. we were writing into the opinion column in the newspaper calling for Roys head.
