Re: B12 2024
i tried to make that point the other day, prior to this thread’s creation
Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?

Re: B12 2024
I think the Arterio issue affected us more than most.

Re: B12 2024
Arterio was likely the best of dajuan, elmarko, and Timberlake. His lost hurt us a lot. We desperately needed his quickness and ability to beat his man with a quick first step and ignite an offense
Re: B12 2024
Once again, we have no idea of knowing that ( and also GTFO with better than Dajuan from 4.6 PPG on 40% shooting ).
Guy had 4.6 PPG last season at a worse shooting % ( both FG and 3FG ) than Elmarko this season.
There isn't the proof there to back up your statement.
Could he have doubled those numbers here?
Maybe?
Could he actually have been even worse than that?
Also maybe.

Re: B12 2024
The little bit I saw of Arterio, he seemed to be what we truly missed this year.
Offensive Aggression.
That may not show up in PPG stats, but this years team just doesn't seem to have anyone that can inflict their will on the ENTIRE defense.
KM can, to some degree. Hunter can a little bit.
Jut my opinion.

agreed, but, what can you do, he made his own bed (twice?). We're not Illinois.Overlander wrote: ↑Wed Mar 13, 2024 1:36 pm The little bit I saw of Arterio, he seemed to be what we truly missed this year.

When we're talking about eggs in baskets, this certainly comes to mind.TDub wrote: ↑Wed Mar 13, 2024 1:38 pmagreed, but, what can you do, he made his own bed (twice?). Re: B12 2024
In a sense, Yesufu had that kind of drive too - speed / taking on defenders.
He just couldn't finish or shoot.
By the looks of things ( and from the data we have ) , while Arterio was a definitely different build, he couldn't finish or shoot either.

Re: B12 2024
I tend to believe (perhaps erroneously) that Arterio was a better prospect that yesufu by a decent margin.
Some might even say he had...."the tools" mightve been the young Makita I dunno...

Arterio was a much better prospect that yesefu
Pdub does not want to admit arterio would have helped us, but we all know it. Bill doesn't take a risk on a guy like that for no reason
And we did get to see a little of him, in practice and the exhibition games, and he was the most dynamic guard on the roster
Arterio had talent and a gear that dajuan doesn't

"Pdub does not want to admit arterio would have helped us"
I did not say this.
Of course he would have helped us.
Here are some things I was responding to:
"Arterio was likely the best of dajuan..."
Dajuan is 3rd team All B12 quality. There isn't any proof Arterio could be this.
"His lost hurt us a lot..."
A lot? Pump the brakes on a 4.6 PPG, 40% FG player.
Yesufu was also the most dynamic guard on the roster last season.
He couldn't finish or shoot.

Dajuan would have been better at his niche. We all know what dajuan is. Arterios athletic ability would have given us something different that this team was missing

Re: B12 2024
I don't feel like DH is playing out of his niche this year. I just think his niche doesn't work as well with an offensively limited team.
We have to run offense on every single possession to score. And when we run it well, and shoot it well, we are highly efficient and get a ton of easy baskets off of assists.
Unfortunately, we don't shoot it well much.

what i am trying to say in a less john madden way is that without our offense creating easy baskets we are unable to score most of the time. We can't just grind out wins with ugly offense and good defense.
