lol.
For a 6th.

I think the Bears overall have done very well though…that last part with Fields was definitely a fail though. Had they done things at a timely manner I think at worst they get a 4th. At worst.

Here is the classic. I could see the Bears are trading down the #1 and keeping #9.
Not take a WR when they could get one of either Nabers, Odunze, or Thomas at 9.
Instead taking some OL or DL guy at 9 that they probably could have gotten later.
End up drafting McCarthy, Nix, or Penix when they trade down the #1.
Could have had Williams and either Nabers, Odunze, or Thomas. Instead get Bozo, Ronald McDonald, and Krusty.

BINGO!
No chance they were keeping Fields. He was going to Atlanta but they got Cousins. After that nobody wanted him as a starter. It is just like the Pat's moving on from Mac Jones you have no leverage and you get what you get. There only three teams that need a starting QB who are not in spot to draft one the Raiders who went with Minshew lol. Denver who Fields does not match with the coach and the Vikes who the Bears could never trade him too.

Look at all the QB moves that happened before Fields was traded. Arizona got Ridder, Seahawks got Howell, Raiders/Minshew, Rams/Jimmy G, Jags/Jones, Pats/Brissett,Washington/Mariota,Giants/Lock, Browns/Winston,Titans/Rudolph,Bills/Trubisky,Eagles/Pickett,Colts/Flacco

Every one of those teams is paying more except maybe Arizona, Seahawks and Eagles but they traded more draft capital. The problem with Fields is next year. You pick up his fifth year and it's 25 million. Nobody wanted that.

The Bears were doing so well. Then they had to go and get desperate and fleece themselves. Bad franchises seem to always do these things to themselves.

I think the Bears were holding out for more ( 2nd/3rd ) and then teams moved on so the value for him sunk.

The Bears gave up 2 1sts, 4th and 5th for Fields so probably wanted more back originally.

But circling back—I know it’s a great deal for a 6th but wtf are the Steelers thinking?

Russ and Fields?
How is this gonna work?

No clue but they got two QB's and are paying less than $4 million in cap money so....Both of them better than the three QB's they had. But they just traded WR1 so who they throwing to?

Agree that they have 2 QBs better.
But, chemistry?

Fields gets a stress free year to learn the system and be set up for success the following year? Wilson bounces after his 1 year deal is up.

Sure but a full year off from Fields and now you have to sign him to a long term contract?
How will you know he will be worth that in your system if he doesnt play?

$26M+ for a two year QB with solid potential. Chicago had space to keep him around. Williams seems to be one of those can't miss guys like Jeff George or Ryan Leaf. There will be a great QB in this year's draft, but he will be a surprise.

Chemistry is why the Bears traded Fields. Also why Howell, Jones, Ridder and Pickett got traded.

Now the Steelers are unconcerned about chemistry. Either Wilson is the QB and gets them there or switch to Fields and see if he can. There is something that Fields may learn in this process that makes him a better QB.

Curtis Samuel 3 years, 24 million, 15 mill guaranteed.
That's pretty good value for them to be honest.

We'll see. . . I think they needed defense and are kvetching about the wrong side of the ball again.
