Re: NCAA Tournament 2024
I don't think he's ALL about the money. He doesn't come across that way to me at all in interviews or when our players/coaches talk about him.

Re: NCAA Tournament 2024
I'm confused.
People are being critical that current 23 year old wants to make a lot of money and play Basketball for the University of Kansas? A 23 year old who is doing what he feels is best for HIM?
Gee, money and happiness are important to the guy. God forbid!
What does he owe anyone on here in those regards? Which one of you wouldn't do the same exact thing he is doing if you had the opportunity to do as such?
Moving on, as Kansas fans we feel....
* He doesn't try hard enough?
I can agree he doesn't seem to give 100% all the time. Perhaps due to injury? Perhaps due to fear of injury? Perhaps due to being lazy? Excusable, inexcusable, whatever reason/s, the guy averaged 18.0 and 10.8. Not a single one of us would have said they wouldn't be happy with that before the season started.
For fucks sake, the guy put up 27 points and 21 rebounds against Kentucky.
The guy put up 17 points and 20 rebounds against Tennessee.
30 and 11 against TCU.
24 and 14 and 20 and 16 against OU.
20 and 15 against ISU.
15 and 20 against KSU.
Name a guy since Danny Manning who put up those kind of numbers for KU in a season.
But but but..... Dickinson put up those numbers against those teams that didn't have bigs.
Or, but but but.... Dickinson had shit numbers against UCF, Cinci, TTU, Houston.
Buncha Gutters on here.
* He celebrates or pouts in a manner in which people don't care for?
Again, Buncha Gutters on here.
Is his emotion fake or legit? If it's fake, then he deserves ridicule. If it's legit, then I will refrain from criticism.
When I played competitive hockey at first I lacked confidence and was extremely reserved with my emotions on the ice. I was criticized for it. Told I didn't care and lacked effort because of it. Told I wasn't a team player because I wasn't overly excited when my teammates scored.
Then when I was good (dare I say great?) and confident with my abilities, I became what many felt was an asshole on the ice. They felt I was too emotional. Too cocky. Disrespectful. Celebrated in excess. Of course I was criticized for all of that - too.
NEITHER were fake emotions at the time. Neither were done to appease others. They were MY 100% legit emotions in regards to how I felt while playing.
Guess what? In hindsight - my exact feelings are fuck everyone who felt they knew better than me how I should have behaved on the ice - and those who had a problem with me being me.
Back to Dickinson. For some of you, I can'r help but believe the negativity towards him runs deeper than you express on here. If so, that's on YOU. Not him.
Once again... That's being a Gutter. Don't be a Gutter.

Gutter:
I’m alright with being called a gutter in this one. I think the kid is a tool. The fact that I used the word tool should be evidence enough I’m a curmudgeon. I know that, and I’m alright with that here.
My divorce with sports fandom has been slow in coming. Especially with college sports. I went to school here just like all the kids that play here. Except now, do they really go to school?
I’ve said I understand why they go where the money is, but I think that disgusting in regards to college athletics. But, that, is, yes, a me problem. And I’m on with that.
Divorce is messy. And emotional. Kids are gonna get hurt. Especially when they aren’t the favorite. And HD is definitely not on any list of favorites, despite his obvious skill and production.

B2L I’m in the same boat but I think Hunter is especially worse than most players in this new system.
The system sucks but Hunter is like the spokesperson for the suck.

I have painted him as such in my head that way as well. Fair or not. He’s done nothing to discredit it.
And I’ve been waiting for the TikTok/whatever that shows him reading books to kids in a local elementary school or something. They probably exist, and my phone/the Illuminati/new math doesn’t register that as on my list of interests, so I don’t get fed them.

Re: NCAA Tournament 2024
I like that it’s the 10s in Dayton. Honestly, I think they should make Tuesday-Wednesday 8 games. And have this be a battle between teams fighting for the 8/9 seeds. This would allow more of the bubble in, and give the #1s the added advantage of playing a second round game against what is most likely a p5 fringe qualifier that’s playing their third game of the week.

Oh wait, it’s p4 moving forward now that the Big10 has more schools than the pro leagues.

I think he's probably not much different than the other top players...

McCullar, Dillingham, Clingan, Jared McCain, Caleb Love, Paxon Wojcik all appearing in ads with him.
I'm not telling you not to hate him fwiw. I disliked McCullar initially last year too. He didn't come here for free. My guess is he came here to try to turn into an NBA player, and for money, and to try to win a natty. Not sure the order. I think HD came for those 3 reasons too. Not sure the order with him either.

"Not sure the order with him either."

Re: NCAA Tournament 2024
Spose this kid goes all David McCormack and we win it all. Do we still have to dislike him?
Defense. Rebounds.
Re: NCAA Tournament 2024
i don't dislike him.
Re: NCAA Tournament 2024
Big Dave is my favorite.
Re: NCAA Tournament 2024
Yes, we can.
It'd be like if in 2015 we traded Alex Smith for Ben Rothlisberger and he had a Super Bowl run.
I'd be happy as a Chiefs fan for the Chiefs but I would not like Ben Rothlisberger.
Re: NCAA Tournament 2024
the local malcontents disliked Big Dave plenty. and were not bashful about it. Big Dave showed them.
