Manning in Trouble
Manning in Trouble
Anyone else see the story on ESPN about Danny possibly being out soon at Wake?

Re: Manning in Trouble
It makes sense:
"Coach Danny Manning is 65-90 overall and 24-64 in Atlantic Coast Conference play with one NCAA tournament appearance in five seasons."

Re: Manning in Trouble
One of the tougher jobs in the game. I wouldn't blame them for letting Danny go, and I wouldn't think that'd be his last stop as a head guy.
Even if there's a little break in between.

Re: Manning in Trouble
Hindsight is 20/20 but he probably never should have left Tulsa.
That and Wake probably shouldn't have given him a contract extension.
If he doesn't take another job he gets paid by Wake until 2025. I think close to 15 million.
Have to figure the new AD is going to show him the door.

Re: Manning in Trouble
Yeah he gone.
Tough place to coach. He'll be back as a HC somewhere on the lower level.
Good coach. Nearly impossible job to succeed in.

If Gregggggg Marshall were to leave, Danny would be an immediate candidate there.

Re: Manning in Trouble
Danny had that 1st round big guy that left a year or two ahead of schedule. I’ve always thought that detoured Danny at Wake. Still, I’ve never been big on Danny as a P5 coach but I also couldn’t figure out why he’d take on that big of a challenge.Gutter wrote: ↑Tue Mar 05, 2019 4:43 pm Hindsight is 20/20 but he probably never should have left Tulsa.

Should just come back to KU and improve our bigs. He was great while here.
Re: Manning in Trouble
If he needs something between jobs I bet he could get a nice paycheck as our new director of basketball player development

Can't coach unless he's an assistant.
I'd probably take Collison over Manning just because I don't want Collison to get away.

Re: Manning in Trouble
Does the fact that he's been at the last couple home games indicate that process has already started?

Fighting Manning’s owning Duke in the second half. Up 10 on the road.

Re: Manning in Trouble
There is something to be said of having a former NBA guy on the staff.
I remember D Mann telling a story to the players that when they foul out and the crowd starts the ‘left right’ chant sit down right as the player is shooting the FT.

Wake just got hosed on 3 straight calls
Re: Manning in Trouble
Wake came VERY close to beating Puke at Puke. Final score 71-70 for Puke

Re: Manning in Trouble
Duke was also fouling Wake like crazy on all rebounds in second half. Frustrating to watch.
