NFL Offseason 2024
Re: NFL Offseason 2024
Oh yea, the Bills have holes now.
But at 7 mill on average a season, I like Curtis Samuel.
I would have been excited if he had signed something like that with us.
Hollywoods speed and ceiling are higher but I think Samuel would have fit well on our team.

I think it's a great price for a guy who is of the same archetype as - and is squarely in the performance middle ground between - Mecole and Tyreek.
In other words, I don't think you pop Worthy at 32 now - I wouldn't personally want to spend one out of his four years having him back Brown's role up.
Re: NFL Offseason 2024
You find a different dude than small and blazing fast.
I’d still make a move in the 1st if your guy was there but you could also get best available and try to get a number if dudes in the 2nd ( there are a few - Legette, Burton, Pearsall ).

Re: NFL Offseason 2024
Harrison will fall to 32. Maybe.
Re: NFL Offseason 2024
NFL adopts kickoff rules similar to the XFL.
Returning team and kicking team will line up between 5 and 10 yards of each other on the 30-40 yard line of the returning team.
If the ball is kicked to the return zone, between the 0 and 20 yard line, it must be returned ( no fair catches ) - touchbacks to the 30 yard line.
I prefer the original but this is better than kicking it from the 35 and all fair catches automatically putting the team on the 25...more kick returns will happen this way.
Downside?
No surprise onside kicks.

It actually sounds more dangerous and frankly weird.

Re: NFL Offseason 2024
I feel between this major change and the hip drop tackle change, refs are going to have a harder time officiating games and fans will get more pissed off when they feel their team/s get screwed by judgment calls. I suppose all calls are "judgmental" so maybe I should say rule interpretation calls.
Unless the NFL adds more refs on the field, I don't know how they are going to be able to focus on so many things/rules/penalties. They already have a tough enough time with rule interpretation.
I think any of us who watch NFL games notice the refs don't call blatant holding penalties. Is it because they are missing them or because they know they are happening and choose to decide if THEY feel it is having an impact on a play as the play is developing?
P.S. I probably won't be alive to see it happen, and I would be surprised to see it happen if it does happen in my lifetime, but I wouldn't be shocked if at some point the NFL became a "touch" or "flag" football league. Heck, they did it with the Pro Bowl. Which I have mixed feelings about.

Re: NFL Offseason 2024
The hip drop thing is going to be a mess this year. Lots of whining about the interpretations of what happens alongside "what's he supposed to do" screaming. I'd bet that gets eliminated or adjusted after next season.
The kickoffs look cool. Excited for that for sure, especially if they line that new rugby player guy up back there and let him take some people on.

Hip drop gonna cause some shitty officiating.
I like the kickoff change.
I’d rather it be how it was before they started to change it around 2010 but this version is better than returners basically calling fair catch every time.
Now I wish they’d back the kickers up 10-15 more yards so touchbacks would be even more rare.

Re: NFL Offseason 2024
Kickoffs? Why? What they did before basically eliminated it and it was boring so they are tweaking it some to try to generate a little more excitement. Good for them if it works without being too weird. It will certainly make special teams coordinators step up their creativity game.
Re: NFL Offseason 2024
The issue with the kickoffs is that the rules are Byzantine, It is like the back yard rules rugby game my friends created a long time ago. Still not sure how it was scored, but lots of tackling and thrown objects.
Re: NFL Offseason 2024
It was not a time of safe spaces or inclusion
Re: NFL Offseason 2024
Oh wow.
Diggs ( and a 5th and 6th ) to the Texans for a 2nd round pick.
So it's Curtis Samuel and who for the Bills?

Re: NFL Offseason 2024
And while Diggs is a biatch and has lost some luster he's still very good.
That WR core with Tank Dell, Nico Collins and now Diggs with Stroud throwing the ball?
Lights out.
I think Mahomes will see them at Arrowhead in the playoffs.

Re: NFL Offseason 2024
Probably so. Seems like they're this year's 2023 Dolphins (which were the 2022 Jaguars, which were the 2021 Chargers, which were the 2020 Bills, and so on).
Re: NFL Offseason 2024
So Houston has the best WR corps now right?
Bengals lost Tyler Boyd.
Dolphins is up there with Tyreek and Waddle but I think Houston, now with Diggs, is better.
I forgot they also got Joe Mixon.
Yowza.

The Bills are eating 31 million in dead cap WITH this trade.
Oh man the Bills - might be tough sledding in the future.
