Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?

That wasn't my thought but you just might have a pretty accurate assessment of what you viewed.Overlander wrote: ↑Fri Apr 12, 2024 6:31 pmAttention whore with a teenager’s schtick.DeletedUser wrote: ↑Fri Apr 12, 2024 5:36 pm Well okay then.....

I was thinking more along the lines of why did Kentucky decide to try to emulate Kansas State type of "schtick"?

This both makes me like him because of his passion and dislike him bc he’s a coach and that’s embarrassing.DeletedUser wrote: ↑Fri Apr 12, 2024 5:36 pm Well okay then.....

Full disclosure: I think that video is old. I am not sure when/why it was made, but it is definitely hilariously awful.

Ok I thought it was how he was acting just hours into the job.
He obviously loves Kentucky which is good.

Re: Calapari to Arkansas?
why would it be old? maybe it is, i hope it is, ...but why would he randomly film himself doing that stupid stunt when he was coaching elsewhere?DeletedUser wrote: ↑Sat Apr 13, 2024 10:38 amI am hoping it is old. they're eating up Pope's schtick over there. grown men talking about crying their eyes out watching his first press conference theyre back to thinking they're going 40-0
I say he has 3 years. or they're going to make him into a shish kabob.

It's going to be, among other things, a math test.
How will UK fans react to a high-variance approach? If the way the dice settle, years one and two are first weekend losses on the backs of like 8-30 shooting from 3 each game...then that may be it for Pope, even if he's actually done a great job.

Re: Calapari to Arkansas?
in my limited experience, byu sure seems like a tough place to recruit
utah hs basketball is strong, and byu obviously gets their pick of lds guys, but pope may very well do better than expected now that he doesn’t have to deal with and spin the cultural “issues” associated with being a student at byu

Re: Calapari to Arkansas?
I know some are quick to push back and say 'there is no set limit' and laugh when people bring up salary cap for specific teams but i'm certain there is a max the collectives and boosters are willing to pony up for a single season...say i'm booster Bob and I am willing to give 4 mill this year. Often I just give $$ to the athletic program of the school.
Now I have a convo with those in the basketball program and I find out Pope is only getting 5.5 a year and they don't have to pay out Cal's salary so they're good...instead could you push that 4 million this year all in to NIL for us?
Anyways, to my point, maybe with Pope in hand for a cheaper price, and Cal not taking future cash flow, can enough money get to Reed Shephard to pay him as much as he'd get his first year in the pros if he say went 10th? We got 4 million from Bob.

Re: Calapari to Arkansas?
i'm a KANSAS fan. so i would rather that 4 mil go to hd than reid sheppard.
if i have a say.
it's not my money. so ultimately i really don't care.

Small picture, I don't think it can really work this way.pdub wrote: ↑Mon Apr 15, 2024 9:50 am I know some are quick to push back and say 'there is no set limit' and laugh when people bring up salary cap for specific teams but i'm certain there is a max the collectives and boosters are willing to pony up for a single season...say i'm booster Bob and I am willing to give 4 mill this year. Big picture, absolutely I would expect coach and administrator salaries to stall or even go down as a result of NIL (and, likely at some point, direct pay). Same thing with spending on facilities.
Re: Calapari to Arkansas?
Small picture why?
Bob normally contributes 4 million to the athletics department.
Bob doesn't this year and contributes to the collective instead.
It works!
