Would rather have Rylan Griffin from Bama if we're going to spend the dough.

Can we sign cliff omoruyi and deal hunter? Get a defensive center, ship off hunter, and clear cap space for griffin or storr
Re: 2024/2025 Lineup
Griffin would be a real solid get
Just Ledoux it

I am itching to do some trail running in the Wallowa Forest.
How far are you from that area?

If we can get Storr and Griffen we'd be in a very good spot regardless of Hunter and Furphy.
I don't think Hunter has any shot at getting drafted. So I don't see why he wouldn't chase a title at KU.

Re: 2024/2025 Lineup
Is it too much to both sincerely want Hunter/KJ/Dajuan all back, but also want Hunter/KJ/Dajuan all back in reduced roles?
That’s to say, fewer mpg, and with depth options to spell/counter the holes in their games.
It sounds a tad callous, I know. But come on, we’re a blue blood, and shouldn’t/shouldn’t have to afford multi-year starting roles to players with such incomplete skill sets.

You can also be wrong for wanting things that probably make the team worse.
If there are players who make the team better than Dajuan Kj or Hunter do, then they'll play.
It seems what you want is not really realistic. All 5 starters without any glaring holes in their games. Seems like fantasy land.
Re: 2024/2025 Lineup
is there an advantage to being a so-called "blueblood" in todays modern semiprocollegiatelike athletics scene.
Re: 2024/2025 Lineup
All 5 starters without glaring holes is the stuff of contenders. (2008, anyone?)
Even if it’s just one or two who, say, don’t quite have a j, or don’t quite move their feet well enough on d, or don’t quite rebound like they should…that’s a lot less of a liability than 3+, and expecting the holes to be filled with newcomers

Russ Rob had holes. Sasha Kaun had holes. Darnell Jackson had holes.
And that's also maybe the best roster in the history of KU basketball. So expecting that as a normal occurrence is laughable.
Get a grip.

Re: 2024/2025 Lineup
Including Hunter in there with Kj and DH is also laughable. He was 2nd team AA.
Self needed to adjust how we played pick and roll defense with him, and he was unable or unwilling to do so.
Dj Burns just made a final four and he's worse at just about everything than HD.

Hunter and Dajuan seem to have plateaued. If KJ improves over the summer as much as he did last year he'll be a star.ousdahl wrote: ↑Tue Apr 16, 2024 11:44 am Is it too much to both sincerely want Hunter/KJ/Dajuan all back, but also want Hunter/KJ/Dajuan all back in reduced roles?

Re: 2024/2025 Lineup
seems to me that KJ suffers from what a lot of the rec center guys suffered from…not enough balance between weights and just getting shots up. the strength is overwhelming the touch and finesse that he needs to 1) be a better free thrower, and 2) develop an outside jumper
it’s fixable, imo

Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?
Re: 2024/2025 Lineup
Hopefully it IS fixable. But considering 3 years in and he hasn’t made a single 3-pointer, ever, I’m not as optimistic about fixing as I could be.

I don’t remember any of those guys being as incomplete as this season’s guys.
That’s to say, I don’t remember ever being like, “man, Sasha/Darnell/Russ’s lack of (insert particular skill here) sure is burning us tonight,” like I felt this year.
Maybe it was cuz we had the depth that year too.
Or maybe it was cuz that team is an outlier. Wasn’t that the year Roi was saying, “they have no weaknesses”
