Re: 2024/2025 Lineup
I think next seasons roster is going to make us appreciate dajuan a lot more. With the players from the portal, we have more scoring weapons and shooters. Dajuans role will fit in better than last year when we have playing with freshman in the backcourt
I also think the key to next season could be KJ and Hunter playing less. Still playing big roles, just getting more rest, and having more balance. Hunters minutes and touches need to go down so we can have more balance on offense and be better on defense, and KJs minutes down so we can have more shooting and a better spread attack on offense

Sounds like Labaron Philon is going to remain committed to KU.
Good for him. Good for us.

Re: 2024/2025 Lineup
Dayton transfer Koby Brea, who led the nation in 3pt fg%, announced that is down to five schools; Kansas, Duke, Carolina, UConn and Kentucky. He would probably get more minutes at Kentucky or Duke, who have very few players on next year's rosters at this point but he would be a nice addition for KU.

Awesome. He won't play much next season. But if he sees the big picture, a guy like 6th year pg dajuan harris is a hell of a way to spend your freshman seasonDeletedUser wrote: ↑Mon Apr 22, 2024 11:28 am Sounds like Labaron Philon is going to remain committed to KU.

Update: Philon is backing out of yet another NLI. After decommitting from Auburn, he now appears to backing out of his commitment to KU.DeletedUser wrote: ↑Mon Apr 22, 2024 11:28 am Sounds like Labaron Philon is going to remain committed to KU.

I would guess that means that Griffen from Bama will be committing this week.

Re: 2024/2025 Lineup
He was on social media yesterday and the day before saying he was not backing out of his KU commitment and wanted to come to KU....on multiple posts where places rumored he wanted to go somewhere else he posted that was "cap".DCHawk1 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 23, 2024 10:29 pmGoddamn, you're good at this.DeletedUser wrote: ↑Mon Apr 22, 2024 11:28 am Sounds like Labaron Philon is going to remain committed to KU.

Makes me think the KU staff encouraged him to go elsewhere because he did not seem bothered that he was going to have limited opportunity next year with Zeke coming. Also might have more to do with the PGs we are in on next year. Multiple PG/CG top 15 recruits.
Alabama seems like the favorite based on his interactions with some of their players.
Encouraged for Elmarko to have more opportunity due to this departure. He earned some respect from me for sticking it out and not running to the portal.

Re: 2024/2025 Lineup
the social-media-as-news issue strikes again
Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?

Re: 2024/2025 Lineup
No doubt. My bad.
He seems to be out there insinuating to his friends that he was made to feel like KU moved on from him. That he didn't "want" to decommit from KU.
Either way, oh well. We didn't need him next year so it doesn't hurt us, and now he's got the opportunity to go somewhere that he can contribute immediately to like Alabama or Arkansas.
Re: 2024/2025 Lineup
If having to compete for minutes "makes" him want to leave then it is not a loss at all. I don't want guys who feel they are owed minutes.
Re: 2024/2025 Lineup
it's his....3rd? decommitment before freshman year? Maybe it's us, maybe it's him. Too bad, I think he could be good.
Just Ledoux it
Re: 2024/2025 Lineup
Nice and shitty and par for the course.
Re: 2024/2025 Lineup
Like I said, I'd bet this means that Griffen from Bama is more than likely headed to KU. Rumors are out there that he will commit on Friday but those are just rumors at this point. I hope they are true as he seems like a competent player ready to contribute immediately.

Re: 2024/2025 Lineup
I sure liked watching players we recruited spend 4 years at Kansas to see how much they grew as both players and people.
Ah well, at least we'll get a year or two out of this guy from Alabama.

Re: 2024/2025 Lineup
Recruits have always flaked on their commitments when better recruits were brought in. This isn't new.
Re: 2024/2025 Lineup
I mean, I have no idea what certain guys, whether here yet or not, think they're owed. But there are 100ish guard minutes to go around in 24-25, and I think any guard would be an idiot NOT to assume that 32+ of them are already set-in-stone-allocated to another guard.
Starts to get pretty skinny from there, and Philon is squarely in that range we've had so much trouble with recently - guys who are good enough to be told they're pro prospects, but probably NOT good enough to contribute right away, at least here.

Re: 2024/2025 Lineup
The only weird thing is Griffen and him aren't directly competing for minutes. Philon was battling Zeke and Elmarko for minutes as the backup 1. Unlikely he'd play off ball with DH because he isn't a shooter and he's small.twocoach wrote: ↑Wed Apr 24, 2024 9:31 am Like I said, I'd bet this means that Griffen from Bama is more than likely headed to KU. I do think Griffen is coming to KU. I do not understand why it'd impact Philon other than we may have decided we'd rather use his scholarship elsewhere. His comments online sure seem like he feels forced out.
