Re: 2024 CBB Offseason
I'm putting this in this thread, and not the other one, because it's only related at 40,000 feet.
I would not AT ALL mind seeing college basketball explore a more English/European soccer format, where there are multiple threads in play somewhat concurrently.
For example, I'm imagining the existence of both (1) a Champions League type format (and trophy), where the [8/12/16/24/32?] top programs fight each other for one trophy, and (2) the March Madness structure largely as it exists today.
I don't think it needs to be, or even should be, one thing or the other. And I also don't think the two tracks would necessarily be dilutive; use the preseason schedule for Champions League pool play, and have an [8?] team holiday tournament over a single long weekend. Then by the time March rolls around, you add in the St. Peterses of the world and rock and roll. If anything, maybe the preseason format and tournament actually plants some seeds of casual fan interest for conference play.
This is the crudest way of describing things, I guess, but what I'm getting at is that I think there are already proven ways to achieve multiple competitive structures, if you look across the pond.

KU vs dookies in the vegas showdown
Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?
Re: 2024 CBB Offseason
I’ve been saying this - play more games, forget about required classes as it’s a facade that distracts these pros, and put all their efforts into improving skills and maximizing revenue.

Shannon Jr. Not guilty.
No matter if he did what he was accused of or not, the moral of the story is it always helps to have a good (or at least competent) attorney.

How did K-State end up with one of the biggest NIL chests (according to the article)? And $2 mil for Hawkins seems high.
