He is not a point guard.ousdahl wrote: ↑Wed Jun 05, 2024 8:06 am Yeah, I haven’t expected him to be a rotation player yet either.
And these summer scrimmages mean about as much as Late Nite. That’s to say, they don’t mean much at all. (Unless heaven forbid Elmarko’s injury is worse than reported)
He and Dajuan combined for 4 points, tho again, it’s just summer scrimmage.
But I still think this roster is such a weird makeup. I dunno if we can really be that good without addressing our lack of scoring from the lead spot, especially when paired with a slow soft old school center and an undersized non-shooting forward.
And all scoring aside, what lead guard could possibly be better at distributing the ball than a guy literally named Passmore?
And why I been fussing for a small/lead guard from the portal.

Yea.
Sigh.
So I guess the question becomes, can anyone on the roster at least pretend to play backup pg?
If only for a few minutes a game?

Don't know anything about this guy. Looks like some bench depth and that's about it.

Guess Philon should have held his water before jumping ship.

Is Mayo a pg?

Passmore is not a very good wing yet either. Prospect. He hit 4 3s in a meaningless scrimmage. I'd love to see a betting line on how far into the season we get before he hits his 4th 3 (not counting exhibition)

That elmarko news really sucks. Obviously he gets a medical redshirt out of it. Hopefully long term it turns out to be blessing in disguise, he can get healthy and use the extra time to improve

Re: 2024/2025 Lineup
I think it's just a technicality...since it's the offseason he can use his regular redshirt, then bank his medical redshirt if, heaven forbid, he plays in a few games of another season and ends up getting hurt again.
Re: 2024/2025 Lineup
medical redshirts are only granted if the regular redshirt has already been used.randylahey wrote: ↑Wed Jun 05, 2024 6:38 pmWhy wouldn't it he a medical redshirt? If he had season ending injury before the season began

Re: 2024/2025 Lineup
Does the elmarko injury really suck? I mean, he mostly did last year, and he is really the best player to watch develop, but if he doesn’t come back, his memory will just be another meh that happens with more and more of the players in this great landscape we have at current time.

Re: 2024/2025 Lineup
Long term, no.
Especially if Zeke was going to beat him out this year anyway.
Minutes might look like:
DH: 32
KJ: 32
HD: 32
Storr: 30
Griffen: 26
Zeke: 20
Bidunga: 15
Clemence: 8
One of Passmore/McDowell : 5
Re: 2024/2025 Lineup
No way Dajuan is limited to 32.
Loosing Elmarko sucks big.

Re: 2024/2025 Lineup
Losing elmarko sucks. Buy hell, maybe this 5th year senior will be as good of a back up pg as elmarko would have been. I don't think so, but moore can shoot better, which might be a better fit.
Maybe long term, an extra year of elmarko could be a blessing in disguise. The rehab process probably won't take a full year, but if it's a full tear it is a major injury. As he returns to health he should have extra time to work on his shot and become a student of the game

Re: 2024/2025 Lineup
I thought it was more of a "you can only get redshirted once unless you apply for a medical hardship waiver so you might as well use your standard redshirt first" situation because if he applied for and received a medical hardship waiver this season then he would have no chance to use a standard redshirt down the road if he wanted to. Using the standard redshirt the first time keeps the door open for an additional season should another injury cost him a season.TDub wrote: ↑Wed Jun 05, 2024 7:08 pmmedical redshirts are only granted if the regular redshirt has already been used.randylahey wrote: ↑Wed Jun 05, 2024 6:38 pmWhy wouldn't it he a medical redshirt? Re: 2024/2025 Lineup
that particular injury is a full 12+ month recovery. Lots of guys take 14, some are never as explosive again. It's a bad one.randylahey wrote: ↑Wed Jun 05, 2024 8:24 pm Losing elmarko sucks. That doesn't seem like a top 3 team. Unless our returners are noticeably improved.DeletedUser wrote: ↑Wed Jun 05, 2024 7:58 pmLong term, no.

It's no longer deep. Unless all the newcomers are studs.
