This is a perfect example of......??????

A. I would guess that 75% of the people who are upset there won't be FOURTH of July fireworks in Chicago don't recall and/or realize that for MANY years Chicago had a huge fireworks "display" in Grant Park (along the lakefront) on the THIRD of July. It was a tradition that was well received and typically attended by an estimated one million people.
Unfortunately, it turned in to a shit show for multiple consecutive years. The animals (bad people) decided to take over and cause chaos, which included shooting innocent people. It became too dangerous and was a bad look for the city.

B. A year or two after the city canceled the THIRD of July fireworks, it was decided to have "city sponsored" fireworks at Navy Pier and two other locations along the lakefront on the FOURTH of July. One north of Navy Pier and one south of Navy Pier. They were smaller than the Grant Park fireworks displays but they served their purpose and the Mayor's office and police believed it would be easier to control 3 smaller crowds than one huge crowd. ???? Ummmmm. No. Of course the inevitable happened. The animals decided to attend the fireworks at all three locations and cause problems.

C. Then it was decided to have "city sponsored" fireworks only at Navy Pier on the typical Wednesday and Saturday nights on or around the FOURTH of July. Whatever dates those Wednesdays and Saturdays fell on. Of course there were still issues but to a lesser degree. Until.... One night I was on my rooftop watching the Navy Pier fireworks (on whatever date it was that was either on or near the FOURTH of July and actually witnessed at shooting at Navy Pier. It was indeed pretty chaotic.
I fully expect there to be an "incident" (or multiple incidents) (define incident/s as you may) this year too. Animals are going to animal no matter what day/s and where you have the fireworks.

D. Chicago is the 3rd largest city in the country in terms of population. Over 2.5 million residents in the city and close to 10 million in the "metropolitan" area.
I feel the city should have fireworks on the FOURTH of July in Grant Park and somehow, some way, the Mayor's office, Police Superintendent, and others involved in planning a huge gathering, should figure out how the hell to control it so that the animals don't take over and ruin it for the one million other law abiding citizens who enjoy it. Sad they can't/won't do as such.

Well, I don't know if that's necessarily true in regards to Chicago. Maybe.
Of course there is/was the expense of the fireworks, paying police, etc., but A LOT of people came in to the city and spent a shit load of money.
Typically the Taste of Chicago was during the Fourth of July week too. It was a BIG revenue source.

I was with my girlfriend at a THIRD of July show at Grant Park and the kids next to us were awesome. Way more entertaining than the fireworks. I got a "STUPID FRESH" from of one of the kids in regards to the fireworks. I told him I was going to borrow it. I still use it often.

The lack of accountability continues to show from Illinois Politicians on both the local and State level that instead of dealing with the problem, they would rather cancel, deflect and ignore. Man so I got a bag of some Starbucks coffee cuz it was randomly on sale.

I normally avoid Starbucks cuz their coffee tends to taste like ass. But I give the “veranda” blend a try, which is supposed to be a “blonde roast.”

It still tastes like ass. Like how is a “blonde” roast flavor still so burnt and stale?

Normally not picky about these things but now don’t know if I even wanna finish the cup.

I roast my own. I actually prefer a lighter roast. Charbucks roasts too dark.

We roast our own (Medium) for pour over, but I am really addicted to speedy cappucino with Peete's capsules (8) for a Nespresso machine, plus a milk frother.

We love the flavor of Starbucks Sumatran dark roasted bean. We have a burr grinder for pour over and change the grind for our Pavoni espresso maker for lattes and cappuccinos. We also have a Nespresso but usually buy Peet's 11 for it.
