No one is - though someone can have bad taste or an uneducated palette. Doesn’t make them wrong though.

Say I’ve only eaten pizza in Michigan and Kansas and once on a trip to NYC at Sbarros. I say my local joint in Michigan is the best pizza in the world and second best is Sbarros. It’s your opinion, sure, and you’re not “wrong” because it’s so subjective, but because of your lack of pizza experience you’re not someone I would trust or listen to when it comes to recommendations.

Yeah, we sort of got in to that (discussed) in regards to Portnoy and his pizza reviews.
Experienced or not, sure he's not wrong with his opinions but he definitely prefers certain types of pizza/s over others and I fairly(?) or unfairly(?) discount his opinion/s because of it.

That's where I get to the vague and generic "best BBQ" claim.
I mean, how do you judge "the best BBQ" when you are not discussing specifics?

Best is what is best according to you. There are objective qualities for good barbecue. Tenderness, right amount of smoke, moistness. Ribs should tug cleanly off the bone, there should be a well defined bite. Meat should not "fall off the bone". For brisket, it should pull apart easily and not crumble. Pulled pork should be tender and not mushy, chicken should also come cleanly off the bone and not be dry.

Everything else is subjective.

Pizza has the same set of rules. Thick crust should not be doughy, Neapolitan should be charred but not burnt. Cheese should be of good quality, sauce not too sweet. Topping distributed evenly and be of good quality. And NO FUCKING Pineapple.

The rest is subjective.

Even then, if you found someone who loved a doughy pizza with a sweet sauce, I'm not sure you could tell them they were wrong.

It's just not winning any awards and will likely not have a large amount of people who enjoy it.

You could tell them they like inferior pizza. Mrs. 99 likes her ribs overcooked and fall off the bone. Inferior ribs, but she likes them that way.

I have had "New York style" pizza that I thought was fantastic and I have had "New York style" pizza that I thought was lousy.
Thing is, I don't think 100 random New York pizza aficionados would 100% agree on which one was fantastic and which one was lousy. So let's say it was 65/35 on way and the other, would the 65 be right in regards to which one was fantastic and the 35 be wrong?

Back to BBQ. There is a shitty BBQ place in Northwestern Hospital. That's my opinion but I am not a BBQ aficionado.

Can you tell I am getting paid $20 every time I use the word aficionado today? ;)

There are certain attributes that most would agree on. Thickness of the crust, floppiness, cheese slide factor etc. My wife and I don't agree on rib doneness, but most of those who are aficionados agree fall off the bone is incorrect.

5 (j) reminds me of a joke.

so there's this ice cream shop that can make any flavor ice cream cone in 5 minutes. This customer walks in and tells the dood behind the counter, "I'll take an ice cream cone that tastes like pussy."

Comin' right up! The dood goes in the back and, 5 minutes later, comes out with the ice cream.

The customer takes a big huge lick of the ice cream. He exclaims, "wtf, this ice cream doesn't taste like pussy! This ice cream tastes like ass!"

The dood says, "oh, well that's an easy fix. Just take smaller licks."

possum? just make sure you cage it and feed it clean greens for a few days to clear the system and get the carrion tendencies out of the flavor

stuff it and roast it...low and slow...should be tender and flavorful....so I'm told

I've heard it's actually not bad, I think I'll pass though.

I have had raccoon and coyote. Neither of which I knew what it was until after I ate it. Didn't love either. The raccoon wasn't horrible but had an off flavor I couldn't place until I was told. The coyote was a jerky and also wasn't horrible but it wasn't good either. I was later told it was coyote, I can't know for sure but that was the claim.
