I've never used door dash or Uber eats or whatever else is out there and I haven't had a pizza delivered in probably 10 years or more.

Now I couldn't even if I wanted to, I'm way outside any delivery zones.

It is indeed "a waste of money" to have food delivered but so is going to pretty much any restaurant to eat. I'll elaborate in a second or three.
As I say too often about what people choose to buy and do in their lives, "those who can - do".
Most things I buy and do I should probably consider to be luxuries.

I say that because I feel most of what Americans choose to buy and do are "a waste of money".
Need examples of that? Here are 5 quick ones off the top of my head.
How much did you pay for the chair you're sitting on (or most recently sat on)? Waste of money. You could have bought a cheaper one that serves the same purpose.
How much money did you pay for the cell phone or computer you are using? Waste of money. You could have bought a cheaper one that serves the same purpose.
How much money did you pay for the shoes you are wearing? Waste of money. You could have bought cheaper ones that serve the same purpose.
How much money did/do you pay for the home you are living in? Waste of money. You could have bought/rented a cheaper one that serves the same purpose.
How much money did you pay for the towel/s you used when you took your last shower? Waste of money. You could have bought cheaper ones that serve the same purpose.

When I lived in NYC I used to have food delivered weekly. Sometimes twice a week. Super convenient. Tons of options. But then it was at most a five dollar delivery fee plus tip.

Now I live in a spot where it’s tough getting food delivered and if you do, the fees are outrageous. So I don’t anymore.

As far as Gutters response, I agree, but I don’t think that’s a one to one comparison. The chair I sat on last was my office chair which I researched for a value vs function. I’ll be sitting in that for hours so having a good chair serves a purpose so I don’t consider that “wasteful”. I could easily have made dinner for myself instead of calling someone up to bring it to me. I’m just not in the mood to cook and/or want to treat myself. I think different scenarios.

Oh, don't get me wrong. There are extremely valid reasons to pay up for something that serves an important function. Such as chairs, phones/computers, shoes, homes, and even towels.
Now that being said, the majority of people I know who buy those things don't bother to spend a lot of time finding the cheapest good (or even great/best) option for them.
I cringe when I think about how much money my company spends on desk chairs. 95% of our employees would be just fine (if not better) with a cheaper option.
Heck, my mother who didn't need a brand new Apple MacBook Air went ahead and spent the money. Why?
I bought a "refurbished" one for less money that I use for a lot more things than she uses her's. Mine works as well if not better than her's.
