Unclehood
Unclehood
Welp, the dog thread took a turn.
I’m gonna be an uncle?!
At least biologically speaking.
my brother asked me to fly across the country and dog sit while he goes to Cali so he can, in his words, give his “gay semen to [his] lesbian friend”
And if I DON’T do it, I’m the unsupportive asshole brother/uncle. Allsome

Re: Unclehood
If you seriously travel more than 15 miles to “dog sit”, then you are a dipshit.
“whatever that means”

Re: Unclehood
I'm confused, why does he need his brother to fly across the country to dog sit? There are no other options? If your brother isn't paying all your expenses, then I would tell him to get fucked. Or at least tell him to tell the lesbian friend to get fucked.

Soo
My brother informed me he’s gonna break the news to mom and dad tonight at dinner.
He said he’s doing it with me here too so I can be a buffer in case they freak.
He said to have a distraction story teed up to neutralize…and/or distract…depending
I said I am prepared to tell the fam I’m moving to Central America to take up ranks among an insurrectionist movement.
Bro said that might be too much at once, and suggested I instead just say I now identify as trans.

Re: Unclehood
Dumb(?) question time. Why would your parents care? Unless your bother is going to be a hands on Uncle to this potential kid?

Yea.
Bro’s gonna be the biological father, and tho he’s not gonna have any legal responsibility for the kid, plans to play a role in the kid’s life.
My parents will either freak out at the unorthodoxy of it all, or freak out about the idea of getting a grandkid and make it all about themselves.
But either way they’re gonna freak out.

Re: Unclehood
Funny that he's telling you ahead of time to have your feet set and weight distributed when he informs your parents. Me and my sibs, and mother, had multiple strategies/conspiracies concocted in an effort to deal with my dad. And, not bad as far as your proposed vehicles of distraction, imo.ousdahl wrote: ↑Mon Aug 05, 2024 8:49 am Yea.

Having slept at a Holiday Inn with a lawyer once, my suspicion is that your bothers legal responsibility for the child will be largely subject to the attitude of the mother, going forward.
I most certainly could be wrong.

Re: Unclehood
As will his ability to be involved in the kids life.
It's not often you get to have no financial responsibility AND also get to decide for yourself to be part of a kids life.
In fact, for adopted children (which I am assuming this would be in some form or fashion for the other 2 "parents") I think the biological parent (brother in this case) pretty much waives any right to try to contact that child until they are 18. And it gets messy in a hurry when lines are crossed or boundaries are broken.
Not something I'd be willing to do. There are a lot of avenues to accomplish what is being accomplished here without this weird scenario of his brother impregnating someone.

Re: Unclehood
does anyone actually believe this nonsense?
Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?
Re: Unclehood
I do.
I don't this this is far fetched enough to warrant a made up story.
I do think some of his stories are embellished ( but rooted in truth ).
Re: Unclehood
Not sure why I wouldn't.

I once again am flattered anyone would think my posting is sophisticated I would actually employ such storytelling liberties.

Re: Unclehood
I haven't gone back to refresh my memory, but iirc his brother was asked by a lesbian couple to come have sex with one of them until she gets pregnant?
That seems far fetched to me....being a sperm donor doesn't. So who knows how this is actually going down. I think that would be awkward to have sex with someone for purposes of this scenario. It's not like you instantly know you're pregnant. It's not like there is a 100% success rate.
Oh well. If this is the entertainment instead of political takes then I'll play along.

Re: Unclehood
As someone who has kids, it would be heartbreaking to watch a child made from you, who looks like you, be raised by others. It would cause me significant emotional damage and distress. It would also be emotionally damaging to the child when they inevitably found out.
Which is why sperm donors are typically anonymous and it's not (typically) done the way Ous is presenting.
But hey, there are plenty of dead beat dad's who don't give a fuck about the lives they help create, so who knows.
