Yeah, exactly. This is "what do we do if Mayo can't play point".

Who gets the PG minutes when DH is out: Zeke or ShakMo (still not liking it)?

Late last year, when Elmarko was messing up and DH was out (and KM was hurt), we had Kj initiating offense and bringing the ball up. We really need Zeke or ShakMo to be able to competently bring the ball up against pressure and initiate offense for 6-8mim per game.

I do like the idea of letting Kj initiate occasionally at times (especially when DH is out), similar to how we used JW at times, because it takes the pressure off of his shooting and he excels at passing/driving.

I've also been seeing some videos of HD looking quicker and stronger. A clear emphasis for him must be the pump fake on jump shots and driving to the hoop. That should improve his effectiveness in the p&r with DH and with the big to big action we run with he and Kj. Self should be watching tape of how well Rudy and KAT work together in their big to big action and try to replicate some of that.
I think some of what you said went completely unnoticed last year, in particular with KJ playing some point when Harris was out, McCullar was hurt, and Elmarko was completely untrustable.

As well as how Wilson took pressure off Harris by being the guy taking it up court and initiating the offense the year before.

Harris isn't effective running the team more than 30 mpg. He needs help. I'm curious if Self by end of year trusts Moore or KJ with that more. Or, preferably, Mayo can play point and it's a non-issue

He's a nice addition to our team. Tons of experience. He's a shifty point with a decent outside jumper.

Most importantly he guards. He locks in defensively and is kind of a "pest"
Self gives guys a chance if they guard.

It's not a coincidence he committed immediately after elmarkos role became vacant
That's what I've gathered as well.

My initial reaction was that it seems unlikely we play he and DH together, so that essentially caps his minutes at like 8-10 per game.

I guess some/a lot depends on Zeke. He has more of what we need.

We know only 8 guys are going to play. Maybe 9 if Self gets "crazy" (for him). At least in close games. Maybe we'll blow some people out and get some extended bench minutes this year.

we know dajuan is playing over 30 minutes a game. All we need moore to do is give us a few minutes of defense and ball handling. Maybe get a bucket or 2. We're golden. He's got a couple seasons worth of starts in the SEC. He can step in as a back up pg

Headband Hunter is looking more explosive already.

Also, they are playing Hunter and Clemence together occasionally it looks like in these practices. As well as some videos showing KJ Clemence and Hunter ALL together in the same lineup. So that's interesting.

Clemence is a guy who could impact this team more than people are expecting. I'm curious to see how far his game has come. He's skilled. Most important thing for him is building confidence early and seeing those shots go in

After seeing some videos and some of the combos we are using I think our starting 5 day 1 is going to be (nothing mind blowing here):

DH
Zeke
Storr
KJ
HD

Solid bench depth. I like that it appears we will have 2 bench bigs in the main rotation instead of just 1 with Clemence and Bidunga.

It's just a guess. But yes, Zeke over Griffen to start, on day 1.

I think Zeke is a better ballhandler and outside shooter.

Both will play plenty.

2 that bring quite different skill sets it would seem

we should be able to field some versatile lineups
Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?

I must admit, I am a little nervous about Bidunga, and how much he can contribute next season....and how happy he will be if he doesn't contribute as much as he'd like.

Hoping Bidunga can at play a freshman Silvio role by March. Play with energy, crash boreds, dunk lobs, and run run run.

And if Zeke is good enough to start at any point, that’s great, and means maybe he doesn’t hit the mid major transfer learning curve as hard as other doods

Zeke is in a good spot for his skillset. He is not being asked to come in and play point guard or run the offense. Especially not with Shak Moore committing late. Zeke will likely only need to learn 1 position (the 2 spot). He will basically be a spot up shooter, which he is capable of doing.

Zeke (and everyone else that is new) will benefit from playing alongside HD and the attention he draws.

Been thinking about this one

And, short of prematurely startinf a 25/26 lineup thread, will just ask here:

Is next year Elmarko’s team?

Bidunga could be Juan's favorite toy.

I remember when Anthony Davis was on the Olympic team right out of college. He only got in the game when it was pretty much done, but LeBron and others looked like they were having fun just tossing the ball toward the rim and letting him go get it. I think Harris could do this with Bidunga.

I was kinda hoping the second half of this coming season would be his coming out party, and restore/revive/whatever the process of development at one school over the course of several seasons, especially after an auspicious start, especially as it relates to one’s potential.
