Re: 2024
Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?
Re: 2024
What was (in January 2021) mere shortsighted cowardice becomes something altogether different now that the Supreme Court has - in very Trumpian fashion, when you think about it - filled the power vacuum created by that cowardice with...itself.
Re: 2024
All McConnell had to do, to avoid probably BOTH sides of this 2024 ticket, was give a handful of R Senators the green light to convict Trump in Impeachment II.
By failing to do so, he set everyone down the path that led to, among other things, this 2024 ticket.

He seems to believe that he is putting country first by not dropping out. I doubt that replacing him at this late a juncture REDUCES the chance that Trump wins and Trump winning is definitely the worst of all the options when considering "country first".
Re: 2024
100% agree. The GOP is the only thing that could have flushed Trump down the toilet earlier. They chose selfish power chasing instead of "country first" and now here we are.jfish26 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 09, 2024 11:24 am All McConnell had to do, to avoid probably BOTH sides of this 2024 ticket, was give a handful of R Senators the green light to convict Trump in Impeachment II.

I said it about dems. But now at this point, all either side would have to do do win a general election is offer up some halfway charismatic candidate under the age of 70.
But, go figure both sides are all in on two of the literally oldest and most unappealing doods to ever declare a candidacy.
It’s like both parties wanna loose.

I will say - RBG's legacy is deeply damaged by her failure to step aside until after it was apparent that her successor would be appointed by Trump.KUTradition wrote: ↑Tue Jul 09, 2024 12:54 pmMerrick Garland would also like a wordjfish26 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 09, 2024 11:24 am All McConnell had to do, to avoid probably BOTH sides of this 2024 ticket, was give a handful of R Senators the green light to convict Trump in Impeachment II.

That's really not how it works at this point in the calendar.ousdahl wrote: ↑Tue Jul 09, 2024 11:51 am I said it about dems. But now at this point, all either side would have to do do win a general election is offer up some halfway charismatic candidate under the age of 70.

Or even now, in a manner that doesn’t restrict the Biden campaign from handing the keys to its funding and ops to another campaign.

When do states start printing ballots?
I am sure it's not 2 weeks before voting occurs.

Re: 2024
I’m citing Stewart’s take last night. (Didn’t gutter just share that?)
England put together an election in like 2 months. France did in less time yet.
I guess a lot of it comes down to whether dems really do try for a better candidate, or just acquiesce to Biden’s ego and sit on their thumbs (but with their fingers crossed!) for the next 4 months
