it's interesting. every election that this great country has held so far, in the 21st century was/is billed as "the most important election in the history of this country. everything is at stake."
makes me wonder.
If it surprises you that as the right-wing has transformed into a personality cult and spirals ever-further down the Christo-Fascist drain dragging the rest of us down with them, the elections become ever-more critical, perhaps you should see your physician and request they perform a comprehensive cognitive evaluation?

Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?
President Biden is finalizing plans to endorse major changes to the Supreme Court in the coming weeks, including proposals for legislation to establish term limits for the justices and an enforceable ethics code, according to two people briefed on the plans.
He is also weighing whether to call for a constitutional amendment to eliminate broad immunity for presidents and other constitutional officeholders, the people said, speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss private deliberations…

But also sounds very very similar to the sort of rhetoric Dems floated this time four years ago.
I do think actually doing something toward the scotus issue could be a good move for Biden tho - especially in the wake of the recent “executive can do whatever he wants” sorta ruling. Just make it strategically clever, and substantive.
Once again, though, no amount of cleverness can overcome R intransigence. Not unless the Ds are willing to do something decidedly unclever, which would be nuking the filibuster.
But the Ds tend to be gullible cowards who think that acting in good faith (by preserving the filibuster) will be met with good faith (by the Rs honoring the filibuster if/when the Rs control the Senate).
Of course it's as plain as the sky is blue that the Rs will bulldoze right over any nicety.
Gullible cowards…wish I had coffee left to spit but it’s already all over my grand slam breakfast.
But yea, do it dems! If and when the pubs shit all over it, then publicly drag them thru the mud! Again, in a clever way that one would do if one was not a coward.
I think that might earn more election year brownie points than more of this “finalizing plans to endorse major changes” sort of hollow virtue signaling.
Biden endorses Supreme Court reforms, amendment to limit immunity
President Biden endorsed sweeping changes to the Supreme Court on Monday, calling for 18-year term limits for the justices and a binding, enforceable ethics code for the high court.
He is also pushing for a constitutional amendment that would prohibit blanket immunity for presidents, a rebuke of the Supreme Court after it ruled this month that former president Donald Trump is immune from prosecution for official acts...

If he had done this in 2021 it might have meant something. Now it is just for show.

not impossible, but tough to reverse what this “court” has already done

In 2021 Biden was still suffering from the deluded afterglow of his 70 years in the senate working out "bipartisan" deals with Republicans, before they became a cult.
Not to mention, it wouldn't have seemed nearly as urgent then prior to the revelations about Clarence and Samuel were revealed by ProPublica, the immunity ruling, and the gutting of the Chevron decision. Which means good luck getting Manchin and Sinema to go along with their "fellow Democrats", imo, an impossible hill to climb.

I think there is also value in making the Republicans own what will be yet another unpopular position. Make them wear those, every single time.
Which reminds me how disappointed I am much of the time with Senate Majority Leader Schumer, who so rarely makes Republicans wear and own their obstruction, and "issues".

We call knew they were a violent delusional cult on Jan 6.
Uncle Joe should just nominate six more judges to the SCOTUS on 3 Dec 2024, committee hearings on 4 Dec, floor vote on 5 Dec. Seated on 7 Dec (coincidence intended). Mission Accomplished.
