yea, me too.

Dood had the potential to be a game changer this year. Now I'm wondering if he still will next.

And how big is Flory, anyway? That scrimmage a few weeks back Self candidly said he's only like 6'7", but I thought I also saw or heard something somewhere recently that he's gonna be listed at 6'10"

That's like the difference in height between KJ and DMac.

I think Elmarko will be pretty good.
I hope it is while he is at KU

Same.

But he's not good enough for it to be "his team next year". Whatever that means.

He's shown nothing, so far, to indicate he is capable of being the best player on a contender. And he'll be coming off a major injury.

This seems like the typical Ousdahl set up. Place unrealistic expectations on a player and then shit on him when he inevitably doesn't meet those expectations.

He did?

Because of his high school ranking?

Or did I miss something last year?

At least prior to the injury, I don’t think it’s a stretch to say Elmarko was penciled in as next in the program to play lead guard.

The injury may change that tho.

If Elmarko is NOT lead next year, then I guess we hit the portal?

Do you pay attention to recruiting?

We are in on multiple top guards next year.

Also, prior to injury the only thing Elmarko showed is that he is a non shooting 2 guard. He has shown almost zero point guard abilities.

So next year’s lead might be a freshman?

I don't think it'll be Elmarko if that's what you're saying.

I think he very well could start (at the 2)...but I don't see how he's going to develop in game point guard abilities while he's rehabbing and sitting all year.

https://247sports.com/season/2025-baske ... trankings/

Names to keep an eye on:

Darryn Peterson
Darius Acuff Jr

And then also Kingston Flemmings.

Here is the problem that was evident last year: Elmarko is not a great ballhandler. That's tough for a "lead guard". I think he's more of a slashing/scoring combo guard.

And yes, if there is a big name PG transfer then we will be an appealing landing spot.

edit: Elijah Johnson…ironic that their initials are the same

I think the days of predicting lineups 2 years out are over. Way too much can change when you're looking at who will be on a roster in 24ish months.

Agreed. I don't assume any freshman or sophomore bench player is going to elevate to the starting role the following season unless their talents are undeniable. Elmarko is certainly not that as he has mostly been disappointing in his decision making and execution. Upperclassmen are easier to predict.

KU is in on several good recruits as well as every potential transfer. No one can convince me that if some transfer PG with a year of eligibility left who sees an opening at KU and wants a shot at it isn't going to get a call from Bill Self and staff.

And, short of prematurely startinf a 25/26 lineup thread, will just ask here:

Is next year Elmarko’s team?
Depends on recruiting. But this is more realistic than people think

There is a big gap between key contributor and "elmarkos team".

Elmarko showed some serious ability in spurts.
I am assuming he was a little taken off by the change from HS to college.
His decision making is definitely his weakness, but that can be coached.

I think Elmarko is going to be awesome by his Junior or Senior year. I think next year, like most people coming back from a serious injury, will be an adjustment period.

Elmarko sticking it out at KU, when most players in his situation would transfer, has made me become a big Elmarko fan.

Jamari too.

We are assuming elmarko makes a big jump. His injury could be a blessing in disguise long term. If he becomes a student of the game and works on fundamentals as he rehabs

If he was a student of the game, I doubt he would regularly do so many WTF things on the court.

Seeing rumors online that the AFH capacity has been cut by 1,000 due to the renovations that took place this offseason. So that will be interesting if true. Sounds like they might have shoved some video boards into the corners and cut some nosebleed GA seats.

Lacrosse was his main sport growing up, he's only played basketball seriously for a few years

Really hope that isn't true. Would be a major L if we start trimming the capacity for luxuries
