Trump will respond how he wants to respond. He can't rely on impartial moderators to ask questions that allow him to frame his agenda properly, so he just listens to their biased, rigged questions and then answers with what he wants to say. They are stacking the deck against him, so he just plays by his own rules. It's pretty clever, actually. I'm sure there's an element of "screw you" mixed in as well.

The Dims could take some notes, though. For example, responding to peoples' concerns about the economy by a) giggling and dismissing the question or b) saying "Well, look how bad it was a year ago. It's a little better now, right?" to people whose grocery bills have doubled are not good strategies. Trump at least acknowledges their pain and promises to do something about it. In this sound byte world, that's effective.
